What can I expect? If I have surgery, will they give me a cast, or can I roll with the boot again?

Usually when someone shows they can’t be trusted with a boot- IE taking it off more than for a bath and sleep, they get casted regardless of whether they get surgery or not.

Are there cast that can fit in a boot for walking?

And I said

And hes for sure going to put you in a cast. You already proved you cant be trusted to wear the damn boot.

For the little that I know from the information available, probably not.

admit to never wearing it to sleep, and often walking, with the boot, for 20 minutes or more within airport terminals.

My money is on you being a TSA agent that thinks the girl at the McDonald’s across the terminal is cute.

Any takers for a bet?!?

Since you're an idiot for getting back to full duty too early and not wearing your boot I'd put a cast on after surgery...and you will be getting surgery.

Follow doc’s orders so you aren’t in this situation again. Feet are apparently more important than you thought.

I think this thread has gotten off track. It isnt about my failure to follow doctors orders. I am aware of what got me here. I am just asking if anyone has any knowledge gained through similar experiences.

If you want even a modicum of useful information from tOT then limit your query to 3 pithy sentences. Think Hemmingway/Twain as opposed to Dostoevsky/OweO. Also within those three sentences do include non-salient facts about the backstory that allows tOT to realize you are a non-compliant fricknut.

I broke my 5th metatarsal and the fracture was non-displaced. After a month of wearing a boot, Xrays showed it is now displaced and I have been referred to a specialist. If it requires surgery should I expect it to be stabilized via cast or boot and for how long.

Was sitting in a recliner and my foot fell asleep. I thought it had enough feeling and walked on it. I had an avulsion fracture about midfoot.
Almost exactly like did! Except I was on the sofa cross legged to cause my foot to "fall asleep". Took 2 steps on the side of it and heard the snap then fell onto the carpet in pain.

Went in bathroom, ran really hot water over it a few minutes, then set it myself. Went to work the next morning driving my 5-speed Toyota Celica, worked till about 2pm at the bank walking back and forth one end of the 1st floor to the other (CEO/Pres was at far end Teller/New Account side, loan files far end other side) up and down stairs to my 2nd floor office (no elevator). Drove myself to a Podiatrist and walked in joking to the nurse at the desk about having to be replaced at Riverdance.

Podiatrist was impressed with my set. Had broken across the metatarsal and broken off the top of the notch that holds the ligament in place (that ligament holds your foot in shape). He said he usually had rough times getting that ligament back in place without surgery and that I had the piece back in place. Not so much as an aspirin for pain.

He wrapped my foot after a whirlpool and had me back every week for a month or so for rewrap and whirlpools. I completely wore the wheels off a desk chair rolling around my apartment, literally.

It was like 6 weeks after I was pronounced healed when that Celica got totalled by a pregnant St Farm Claims Rep, late to work in the morning, t-boned me in the apartment complex parking lot.

You'll be casted because you've shown yourself to be non-compliant.

Enjoy your upcoming mid foot arthritis.

I discern ZERO pithiness in these three sentences, for the record.

Its not that I didnt listen. Whenever i wasnt wearing the boot, I was positioning my foot the same as it would be in the boot. SO it was pretty much the exact same as wearing the boot.

At this point you should just cut your foot off.

Im looking for positive similar case reports from the OT; to make me feel better about the situation.

I'm looking for a date with Jennifer Lawrence, but I know better than to bring that shite to the OT.
