Britney Spears has taken a plea deal in her DUI case.

On her behalf, Spears' attorney Michael A. Goldstein agreed to plead guilty to a wet reckless at Ventura Superior Court on May 4. Spears, who was not in court Monday, was originally arrested on March 4 in Ventura, Calif.

Spears, 44, was sentenced to 12 months summary probation and one day in jail, credited as time served, by Ventura County Commissioner Matthew Nemerson. She was fined $571.00 and must attend a three-month DUI program, where drivers complete 30 hours of class time. Her vehicle is authorized to be searched for drugs and alcohol. In addition, Spears agreed to see a psychologist once a week and a psychiatrist twice a month.

So she essentially gets off with no consequences. Pretty much guaranteed she's not going to be doing those appointments.

2X a month is about all the psychiatrist can take.

kind of unusual for a judge to order the shrink visits, especially for a traffic violation, I'll bet her attorneys suggested that as part of the plea deal

Will the psychiatrist need a metal detector at the office for knives?

I get this is a Louisiana board. But talking about Britney Spears, including how crazy she is, is so 2007 at this point.

I cba to look up the California statute, but reckless op is a misdemeanor in Louisiana, not merely a traffic offense.

Either way, if I were her attorney, I would absolutely have pitched mental health treatment as a condition of probation in return for a reduction in charges.
