The British media is a disgrace to humankind. You know those tabloids that are sold in American super markets that nobody actually buys? Well, those tabloids actually do sell copies in the UK, and people take them seriously.
Two wonderful headlines I've seen after just spending 30 seconds on the Daily Mail and Daily Star home page.
'I bonk my boyfriend every night but it gives me the ick when he sleeps with his teddy'

The BBC is about as accurate as you'd expect state run media to be, I guess. It's better than most of the media in the UK, but that isn't saying a lot.
Under some prior Labour administration, the BBC was really pushing interracial couples. (Although I don't think they really do that under the more moderate Starmer administration.) Not really sure if that has anything to do with why BBC came to mean Big Black Cock in online slang.

The National Enquirer hardly has the same amount of readers in the US that the tabloid newspapers have in the UK.

BBC is about the closest thing to real news that it exists.
They have not changed a thing in their delivery since I have been an adult ~20 yrs.
Not many news outlets can say that.
