Track loaders just aren't made anymore. It's all wheel loaders now. They are faster but the replacement cost of tires is nuts. We got a fiat-allis 945b stuck up on a mountain with a leaking rear main. Gonna have to get it off a forest service lease eventually
Here in Alabama track loaders use to be the main earthmoving machine for small contractors, or as we use to call them “basement diggers”. They all had either a Cat 953 or 963. Some of the old hands still had loaders like Cat 933, 943, or bigger loaders like the old 977. All that ended with the housing crash in 2008. Most of those guys went out of business and sold those machines.
When the economy began to recover and people started building houses again those guys came back but now they were buying Compact Track Loaders like Cat 299s and mini-excavators like Cat 308s. There’s still some track loaders being operated out there, but it’s nothing like it used to be.
