You realize they're already working the weekends with the schedule you don't like, right?

12 hours on Fri
8 Sat
8 Sun

Why not 14 Sat and 14 Sun? Or 24 Sat and 4 Sun?

Probably because aint nobody working a 14 hour shift to start with.

Could also have to do with ship traffic of trapping people in the lower 9th for two days.

3 days of closures = 72 hours. That's not happening here

Since there is very very little to no barge movement after dark right now then killing the locks for 2 straight 12 hour days would be like locking it up for 60 hours.

I just don't understand why you can't list the "other reasons".

It makes me think this was the easy way out, so that's what y'all did. Lazy.

A supposed business owner should be able to piece together a few. Nothing I say will shut you up.

But we are already stopping marine traffic for 2 straight 8 hour days. Are those 4 extra hours a day really going to make that much of a difference?

If so, then do it at night.

Is there something being inspected that can't be inspected at night, provided temp lights are used?

All LUCHBOX has to say is... "look, yeah it sucks, but we have to do most of the bridge down inspections before we do the bridge up inspections, and no amount of artificial light is going to make it work".

I'd still be annoyed of course but I'd stand down.

4 pages, you haven't "said" anything.

Is there some top-secret reason you can't reveal? National security or something?

Everything I've said you've dismissed. Others have given valid issues too. You just don't want to hear them

Yes. There are other stipulations put on the operation on the locks as well.

Probably. Or the inspection company doesn't do night work due to potential safety issues.

There are 4 other ways to get where you are trying to go. This is a very minimal interruption that you are too ignorant to work around.

So the workers in Houston can do this on 290 and the Katy Freeway, but the workers in NOLA can't.

The OP is such a jackass he probably doesn't realize that they likely tried to plan just a Saturday and Sunday outage, but the scope needed a larger window. So they chose Friday which would be one of the slowest days if the week rather than a Monday.

See... that's a good reason. Thank you.

Claiborne is horrible traffic today

Florida has a flooded approach on the downtown side of the bridge

I-10/510 yeah, that's just waaaay out the way, and probably not any faster than sitting through the traffic.

Do you think there is some bottomless pot of money to pay OT for any job that may impact some jackass's commute?

And I'd love to hear about what specific jobs in Houston you're comparing to this. You've been talking out of your arse this entire thread.

I don't know what they "planned" as all announcements have called for three days.

If they were working from sunup to sundown on Sat and Sun, and needed more time, and said working at night on this type of issue was a safety issue, then I would completely understand and have never started this thread.

Every major freeway expansion. Katy Freeway, 290, 610, Beltway, etc. All of them when total closures are needed, do them on weekends and/or overnight.

I lived in Katy when they rebuilt the Katy Freeway. At least once a month for over two years, the entire freeway would be shut down from 9 pm Friday to 5 am Monday. And they worked round the clock.

I guess they might have to steal less to make that happen.

Like comparing apples to guitars.

Which navigable waterways were crossed by those jobs btw?

More proof that you have the slightest fricking clue how things work

The Port of New Orleans owns and operates four bridges (St. Claude Avenue, Florida Avenue, Almonaster Avenue, and Seabrook) across the Inner Harbor Navigation Canal. To help expedite vehicular traffic during peak drive times, the bridges will not be drawn for maritime traffic during restricted hours on weekdays (Monday-Friday), excluding federal holidays, except in the case of an emergency. These restricted hours are known as bridge curfews

6:30 a.m. - 8:30 a.m.
3:30 p.m. - 5:45 p.m.

Also think there are additional restrictions because of the high water.
