Well that settles it. One guy at one wedding was thought to not be weird by one guy.

I’ve worn mine to a couple weddings that I was a part of. I was actually in the wedding though. In lieu of renting a tux I also wore them to a few Mardi Gras balls.

Yeah I did it once as a PFC
I was 19 years old and didn’t have a suit. And like every other straight19 year old I wasn’t going to buy a suit when I could spend that money on booze and dress blues get more pussy than suits do anyway.

Youre dong the same with Bridezilla
I'm betting most people would have no issue with it

Maybe it’s a generational thing. But I don’t see it as he was trying to “outdo” the bride. The thought of outdoing a bride on her wedding day is a foreign concept to me first of all. Secondly, I’ve always thought it was pretty common for active duty personnel to wear their dress uniform to formal occasions like weddings. Maybe things have changed?
This. If the guy couldn’t wear his grunt style and cargos and you couldn’t see his tattoos how else would people know he was in the military. He had no choice but to wear his dress blues

Well that just makes him a trashy loser. We all love to make fun of those right?

I never said otherwise. I just said in my opinion, it was a weird move.

I’d wager you make more money than he does as well.
Probably considering I’m pushing nearly 20 years in now. But I went to weddings when I first got hired and was broke as frick also. I either rented or borrowed a suit or if it was a laid back wedding just wore nice clothes. Again, it wouldn’t have bothered my wife and I whatsoever. I had 2 marine friends who came to my wedding. Maybe it’s common at others but I’ve just never seen them wear a military suit at any wedding. Believe me it doesn’t bother me

If he wasn’t IN the wedding then it’s kinda a shitty move. He must fresh out of boot.
You don't get issued dress blues out of boot unless you're the honor man and maybe a few other special situations. If he bought them himself that's pretty weird but whatever. The bride should have let it go and the posters who said this is a warning sign are correct.
BTW my BIL wore his dress uniform when he married my sister (no pics), but it was all worked out in advance, and he was such a lifer that he actually liked chow hall food. OTOH my cousin's husband was an honest to god hero Navy doc with a couple of tours in the shite as a battalion surgeon with the Marines. He wore a plain tux to his wedding.
The weirdest I ever heard of was the bride who wanted a military wedding, so she had one, complete with the arch of swords. Despite the fact that none of the wedding party was in the military.

I've been to plenty of weddings both formal and non where guys wore their military uni's. Who really cares, and chicks flock to them. She sounds like a 100% spoiled arse.

There was a time when service-members would not put on civilian clothes until they were civilians again. You wore the appropriate uniform for whatever you were doing. Utility uniforms for working or field activities which were not to be worn out on the town. Your service uniform for office activities and any activities off post, and formal uniforms for formal occasions.
The military because of either force protection issues or general sloppiness like the rest of American society has backed off from this.
The Marine was more correct in wearing his uniform instead of civilian attire, he is not a civilian, and when he becomes a lazy civilian again, he can wear lazy civilian clothes.

No they don’t. I’ve never been to a wedding in anything other than a suit, and I promise you made more money than me while in the military than I made in college.

Like I said, I guess things have changed because I remember it being common seeing and being expected to wear a uniform at formal events like weddings and funerals.
I'm a good bit younger and have lived in a major metro area my entire life but even I've seen this on multiple occasions. I've never given it a second thought.
Now that I have, I think my reaction would range from "a little over eager" (young guy) to "yeah dude we know you're in the military" (older guy). Other than that, I can't imagine caring and doubt anyone else would care.

What a f'ing count. The cuck she married deserves every bit of hell she's going to unleash on him.
FWIW that is the formal attire of active duty Marines to wear at such events.
