Perhaps North Baton Rouge will form a break away district.

NBR already set up their own tax district.

Hence the "Overhaul".

Man, there are "overhauls" and then there are "blow the b*tch up, plow the ground, and act like this place never existed" overhauls

Pretty much what's happening. They are building an almost entirely new zoo immediately north and west of the current zoo.

The new entrance will be moved to another street.

Yep. That's not to say that the zoo isn't in need of upgrades.

It baffles me that some people would choose to go to the BR zoo over a world class zoo that’s located about 50 minutes away in New Orleans.

From the center of BR to Audubon Park in NOLA it is 80 miles. From anywhere North and/or West of that it is further.

ETA: Which seems like another reason why it shouldn't have been built in South Baton Rouge. Much closer to Audubon.
