As a parent, yes it is. As a fellow passenger, yes it is. Unless you like screaming babies on your flight. The milk is a necessity for the baby. It isnt really that hard to understand. With that being said, that bitch needs to pack better.
Surely there had to be a way to get everything into one bag and then have the diaper bag also.

How long is the flight? why would she need a breast pump if she had a cooler with breast milk? she going to be pumping mid flight?

When the kid shits on the plane, then she can't change him because she had to check her carry on.

My wife is a terrible packer, even she found a way to just drop a portable pump in the diaper bag when we flew with our infants. The kid is older, it isnt like this Mom cant figure out how to not bring the kitchen sink by now.

Either way, I was wrong, American allows it. I still dont see the need for anyone to offer a public apology. Things happen, move on.

I've posted the policy like 30 times in this thread. She did nothing wrong.

You can bring a personal item, a carry in bag, and the bag with milk. It's specifically mentioned in their policy.

Cool, but she wasn't required to and neither was this lady.

For use in Chicago

Pumps are delicate and expensive. She didn't want the bag agents tossing it around with the rest of the luggage I assume.

I meant in the cabin. I think the airline was being stupid and apparently contradicting their own policy, but she shouldn't need a mechanical pump if she has a natural one in her lap. They aren't that fragile. Pack it in your suitcase with clothing. One less thing to carry.

Depends. How long is she in the airport before the flight? How long is the flight? Where is she going after landing in Chicago.

See how the time adds up? Some women pump/feed every 3 hours.

That's too many items you dumb bitch. You get 1 bag and 1 personal item. If you need the cooler and the beast pump, then you be an adult and you put your ID and credit cards in your pocket, put your purse in your carryon and the check bag the carry on.

I am so tired of people with this bullshite notion that the world must bend over backwards to accommodate you.

FFS people, read the policy.

quote:

Diaper bags (1 per child), soft-sided cooler bags with breast milk, child safety seats, strollers and medical or mobility devices don’t count as your personal item or carry-on.

The baby should count as a piece of luggage too

It's the world we live in and when people don't get their way, they go to the press, social media, etc. I don't care one way or another. Was the flight full? Was there enough room for all the items?

What if I have it certified as an emotional support baby?

Great. Next time I fly I'm bringing all this shite with me. I'll give a shout out to the OT in the liveleak video when the tell me I can't get on the plane with a carryon, personal item, baby, stroller, ice chest, child safety seat, and breast pump.

Does it matter? Should the gate agent get to make up rules on the spot that goes against the company's policy? Kinda hard to unpack belongings from a jetway.

Sure would suck if that was a full flight and she had all the items listed. Still, they should've handled the entire situation better.

Feedings and pumpings don't line up as the baby gets older.
