Well, that's where the discussion came from. I had a feeling some of yall are taking my posts out of context of the original person I replied to.

tigerfoot said moms should schedule their outings around feedings. That's ridiculous.

ETA: Here's the context:

quote:

quote:

Ask that question to the people that give moms shite for feeding their child or want them to go in the bathroom or into a car.
or maybe they could plan their schedules around the baby feeding times.

That is indeed ridiculous.

So you only fed your child at certain times?

If by certain times you mean every 3 hours then yes certain times.

Regardless of how the child acted?

I don't know about your baby, but ours cried for two reasons: hungry and tired. And his behavior pretty much lined up exactly with the schedule. Any time we veered (attempted to veer) he would let us know. He was the schedule master not us.

Literally never veered?

See this is the problem with this board, you have to be so specific or else people loose their minds. I was speaking in general terms, but in reality looking back we were on schedule about 90% of the time.

That's terrible.

You're terrible

That is not only extremely difficult, it's unrealistic and not good for the baby.

It wasn't that difficult. No, it was pretty realistic. how is feeding your baby on a schedule not good for the baby? serious question, I'm not a pediatrician. All of our check ups were great, his weight and growth has never been an issue.

The bigger problem I find is people jump into the middle of the conversation and respond to people without taking the comment in context.

And it's "lose."

He was the schedule master not us.

And that's exactly what my point was to the original person I responded to. Thanks for agreeing.

You don't. Newborns don't adhere to schedules. Since you've had 3, you should know that.

Yes, Ive had three. And as newborns, you dont run around in public with them anyway, unless you are a glutton for punishment.
quote:

Not what I said, but that's cool.

you said that a baby on a feeding schedule was not only dumb, you said that it was the DUMBEST thing you had ever read.
quote:

Feeding schedules are not anything a baby will adhere to religiously.
there we go again. Not one person indicated that they would be religous. But if you have a 6 month old baby, and you plan your activities even a tiny bit you have a 3-4 hour window after the last feeding. IF you are going to be in public past that window, a non moron human should be prepared to feed them again....with either a pumped bottle, or a simple drape.

based off your attitude I'm guessing your wife handled all of it.

the breast feeding, yes.

So a mother shouldnt plan her activities around the baby she is breast feeding? Interesting.

Its just reality, every Mom that decides to breast feed is making the decision to alter their activities to care for their baby. I dont see it being a stretch to not be caught in a position where you must whip the breast out in public. Just a little planning would eliminate that need.

Babies don't always adhere to the plan. Women can try, but if the baby needs to eat and the mom is out, it shouldn't be a big fricking deal.

Your original comment was stupid. There's a reason no one agreed with it. You can keep trying to walk it back all you want.

There is a reason that many folks don't seem to be aware of how their actions influence those around them too.

I walk nothing back. One of the commitments of being a parent is to alter your activities. I dont see that as shocking.

Getting worked up about a mom feeding her child is ridiculous.

I walk nothing back

Not surprising.

You're making strawman after strawman. I never said you don't. So even though you said you "walk nothing back," you're still trying to twist your words to something less ridiculous. It's not gonna work.

You can plan all you want. When the baby gets hungry outside of your plan, are you going to let it cry or are you going to feed it?

I agree if in a place to eat, anywhere else is just fine in my opinion.

I also feel its done far too often by some women just for the shock value, and to get attention. some women will go out of their way to make a display of it.

I don't want a woman to have to hide in a disgusting public bathroom or sit in her car to feed her child who needs to eat every other hour.

A cover is nice, but some babies won't let that shite fly from what I'm told.

I came here to post just this. I did breastfeed and my child hated having a cover and I spent a lot of time in dirty bathrooms and hot cars feeding. Wish it was no big deal.
