That's what I was about to ask. Police don't just show up and start shooting. And is the guy dead or not?

I don't know. The McNeese grad that wrote the KPLC story is incoherent. The Facebooks seem to think he's dead, though.

IDK about the arrest warrant. Someone said his baby momma called the cops on him.

I just saw the video. Saw the bean bag hit him then he goes off camera but apparently charges the cops and is shot.

He said during the altercation something to the effect of "I'm being a good dad"

KPLC is reporting that the sheriff said they took the kid out of the house this morning and then came back later with a warrant for this guy's arrest and that's when he was shot. KPLC only mentions beanbag rounds, though.

Seems like an emotionally charged domestic situation that went way wrong.

They did hit him with a beanbag. He charges though and there are two cops that shoot. One with a pistol and one with an AR.

I'm debating posting the video here. Its graphic but the shooting isn't on camera.

Looks like the story has been updated to say non-lethal rounds were shot first then lethal rounds

Hard to know what happened for camera and whether they thought he was going back inside and if there was even anyone else inside they may have been trying to protect from him.

Coming up weapons drawn may not have been the best approach but I don’t know enough about the situation to pass judgement.

Maybe there will be bodycam footage for the other angle but all 3 officers backing up quickly in unison makes it hard to deny he charges them

The dude had a machete in hand and the deputies had to execute an arrest warrant. What were they supposed to do? Come in tickling?

Yeah once he charged it was game over. I’m just extremely sad for his mom, sister, and kids. I just wish there was a better outcome today. Wish it could have been approached differently, but the officers were 100% justified.

Running after cops with a machete will get you shot every time.
