It was actually alarming, when we entered Italy we basically just flashed our US passports and they just kinda glanced at them. It was almost like "oh, you're an American? you can come on in".

Sounds like the kind of world I would like to inhabit.

My reading comprehension and English proficiency are adequate. However, my one thumb typing speed needs some improvement.

Jesus Christ, people, do yall actually know any 26 year old nurses? Are they the most brilliant minds you've ever met? Or are they just overworked, good people trying to do the best with what they have?

Expecting a friggin nurse to catch a guy with an exotic tropical disease that we rarely see even in Africa on an initial visit is about as logical as asking her to perform surgery.

Depending on what nurse you talk to, they are basically just underpaid doctors that can do anything the doctors do.

The RNs I know are all pretty smart, but three weeks ago I doubt if many of them were expecting Ebola to walk in the ER.

Regardless the hospital and staff were not properly trained in the handling this. And obviously they did not have the adequate protection either. Very sad.

Agree. Especially after how much the threat has been downplayed by US govt officials.

At the end of the day it was the ED Physician that discharged the patient...no matter what the nurse did or did not relay to the MD. I don't know any physician that doesn't perform his own assessment.

Exactly.
But there are policies in place at all hospital for such events. Someone dropped the ball in that aspect.

I read it as, he didnt mention it his first visit. But I see how you're reading it

It was documented in the nurses notes (from what I've read), the physician failed to read all of the nurses notes, though. They have now created an FYI flag to make it more obvious that the patient is at risk for Ebola due to travel or other factors.

The second healthcare worker who tested positive for Ebola last night flew by air Oct. 13th, the day before she reported symptoms, said the Center for Disease Control and Prevention in a release.

She flew on Frontier Airlines flight 1143 Cleveland to Dallas/Fort Worth. The CDC is asking all 132 passangers that were on the flight to call 1 800-CDC INFO (1 800-232-4636). Passengers will be monitored for symptoms and interviewed about the flight.

LNCHBOX, any further comments to your eye rolling that ebola would ever get off the ground in the US?

How does that show she got it before it was know Duncan had it exactly?

ETA: And she was asymptomatic, so her flying doesn't really scare me. But by all means feel free to freak the frick out.

Yea, being reasonable and not irrationally panicking is the epitome of douche knozzle. Really cool spelling btw. Like saying douche nozzle wasn't lame enough.
