shite man I probably know more and deal with more drug addicts than you ever will in your entire life, unfortunately.
People who abuse adderall come in all shapes and sizes. And yeah you can tell pretty quick who needs it vs. who needs to apply themself.

the fact that this is upvoted so much just proves this place is full of people who don't understand much other than how to turn a wrench

people who take it/abuse it recreationally aren't the types that "need to apply themselves."
they're doing it for the same reasons people do coke, the rush/high.
if you're talking about undiagnosed college kids using it to study, it's far more likely that they would get a diagnosis if evaluated. if anything, ADHD is underdiagnosed contrary to popular belief, especially in women. sure, pill/script mills exist, but for most people, especially in states like LA, an ADHD Rx is incredibly difficult to obtain and then keep as you get older.
too many misinformed people spreading falsehoods like "they're just giving it to young hyper boys to calm down" or "you just need to focus, everyone gets distracted" have really created a wholly incorrect image of what ADHD and its treatment are.

Pharmacy chains are shite. Not because they might be without Adderall for a week, but because they seem to leave the pharmacist in a pickle. at times.
CVS is the worst. I don't use them, but I know people who have problems with them every time they have to get a prescription there.
They go drop off a prescription, told that its not in stock and that they will have it in the next day. 10 mins later their automated system will call and say they have a prescription ready. Eventually you learn to ignore the automated system, you pretty much just have to go there the next day to see if its ready.
Walgreens doesn't seem as bad.
I don't know about walmart, but its walmart no one wants to go there anymore than they have to.
Local pharmacies seem to run more efficient. They at least care enough to have enough people so that there isn't one person doing two or three different jobs and the turnaround doesn't seem to be as bad so you become familiar with the people working and that makes things easier.

yes, it has increased, but that doesn't suggest it's overdiagnosed.

do you have experience with this or are you just stating your assumption as fact? this line of thinking is what I'm referring to when I say there are so many misinformed people on the subject of adhd.
even if we do assume that's true, which is a big leap, that's only one part of the equation. depending on your state, like in LA, you need a written Rx so the telehealth e-Rx will not work. then you have limits on how long you have to fill the Rx and how much you can get. states like LA and TX only allow for 90 days so you have to go back to the Dr. to get another Rx.
if someone wants to use recreationally, they are going to buy it or coke, meth, etc off the street, they aren't going to pay a co-pay or higher every 3 months just to spend $300 or more just for 90 days.
edit: you see this exact same thing in LA with the medical marijuana program. $200 entry fee then ridiculous prices at the dispensary have kept a lot of people from trying it out because they can get similar or better on the streets for far less.

So one becomes a liberal by saying something bad about Trump, even if what was said is possibly true?
This was in an article on Newsweek in 2018.
quote:
Actor and comedian Tom Arnold accused President Donald Trump of previously abusing Adderall on the set of NBC's The Apprentice.
"Donald Trump abused Adderall on the set & it made him crazy. He even snorted Adderall. Mark Burnett knew it. It's scary," he wrote in a tweet, accusing The Apprentice creator of knowing that the president took the attention deficit hyperactivity disorder drug.
quote:
Arnold's tweet came in response to allegations from stand-up comedian Noel Casler, who claimed he worked on The Celebrity Apprentice for six years. During a set earlier this month, Casler said that Trump snorted crushed-up Adderall and called the commander-in-chief a "speed freak." He also alleged that the president would also invite teen beauty pageant participants up to his room.
quote:
Newsweek reached out to Casler on Twitter, seeking proof that he worked on the show, but did not receive comment prior to publication.
"I worked on a bunch of those beauty pageants he had in the '90s, too. That was a good idea, Miss Teen Universe? Yeah, that's like giving Jeffrey Dahmer a cooking show. He would line up the girls on the side of the stage, and he would inspect them. Literally, he would stick his little freaking doll fingers in their mouth and look at their teeth," Casler said. "I'm not kidding, this is true, he would line them up like they were pieces of meat. He'd be like, 'You, you, and you, if you want to win I'm in the penthouse suite, come and see me.' If Trump had a cooking show they'd call it "The Douchebag Diet." McDonald's, chocolate ice cream and girls that look like Ivanka are all he ever eats."
He then alleged that Trump was a "speed freak" who "crushes up his Adderall and he sniffs it because he can't read, so he gets really nervous when he has to read cue cards."
Casler said that he had signed a non-disclosure agreement. "I didn't know that he was becoming president. Now it's no way dumbass, I'm telling you everything I know."
So this Casler guy who is a comedian (I don't think he is well known) made up shite and used information he heard from this Mark Burnette guy, who was the creator of the Apprentice. This is the standup in which he says it.

I know this will piss the Trumpsters off, but I read in a book that it was not really a big secret that he heavily used Adderall. I wouldn't be surprised if he uses an upper of some type when he does his rallies. He does have mood swings and he seems to make spur of the moment decisions at times so I don't know why that would be such a far fetched idea.

100% agree. It is being overprescribed in adults as well and can cause irreversible cardiomegaly.
Anyone is more productive while taking stimulants. Most adults on these could be achievers without the drugs. You can't take them forever and they leave people depressed after stopping. It does need to be reined in.
Anyway, I'll still share some insider info that might help some of you. Adderall shortages happen every few years. This isn't new. It's pretty annoying answering these "do y'all have adderall in stock?" phone calls from strangers.
My advice for y'all looking for it... The shortage is not on every mg strength. It is mostly on the 20 mg and 30 mg tablets and ER capsules we have issues. I have actually been able to order extra of the 10 and 15 mg of each of those dosage forms to accommodate my patients who were on the shorted strengths.
So, if you need 30 of the 30mg capsules, and your regular pharmacy isn't getting those in, ask your regular pharmacy if they have 60 of the 15 mg capsules. If so, have your prescriber send the rx written that way.
During a shortage, calling around to strange pharmacies is wasting time. We are not checking when you call. If I can't reliably get it in stock for the people we have already been filling for, can't accept new patients right now.
If your pharmacy will not disclose what they have in stock, which is a totally normal thing that some pharmacies do, ask your doctor's office to call your pharmacist to check and discuss what mg they could use to fill it. Or change it to a different product altogether, like generic Focalin or Ritalin.
If even better, try to have a medication holiday from it. Believe me, it can't hurt you.

LOL
I don't know how much truth there is to it but someone told me 30mg IR is going for as high as $10/pill on the street. That's insane! I jokingly, but kinda seriously, told my wife if you can ever function without it that's $900/ bottle for 90 pills you buy for a $15 copay. Shiiiiit that's one hell of a profit margin! LOL

quote:Drug holidays are not a bizarre concept. From Pubmed
I'm supposed to believe you're a pharmacist and you're saying shite like this?
..
quote:
Results: Drug holidays are prevalent in 25% to 70% of families and are more likely to be exercised during school holidays. They test whether medication is still needed and are also considered for managing medication side effects and drug tolerance. The impact of drug holidays was reported in terms of side effects and ADHD symptoms. There was evidence of a positive impact on child growth with longer breaks from medication, and shorter breaks could reduce insomnia and improve appetite

I’ve literally seen people having full blown melt downs. Adderall is legalized meth. Once you are on it, you will be tied to it for life

No copay.
Told the doc, I need an adderall prescription, how about viagra and cialis too?
He said, cialis his expensive. I'll write you for 20 of each. How much adderall?
Got two scripts for 30 10s. One at wake up. One at 10. I usually take the morning only. On weekends, I'll take one when I wake up and one before lunch.
Saves me from drinking coffee mid day.
Adderall is $5. Viagra is 3. Cialis is 20.
I probably have 300 of each on hand. Never take the dick pills. Will take the viagra when we are hiking above 10k. Makes a huge difference in stamina.
