Need to have the brakes and possibly the rotors replaced on my vehicle. First place I called for a quote said $500 and up for just the pads for ONE axle. Anyone know of any reputable shops that won't rip me off?

I know that I can change them myself but I don't have time or the desire to do that shite myself right now.

So, inb4 "be a man and change them yourself." One day I will when I have time do shite like that.

Try Sherwood Car Care off of North Harrell's Ferry. Not in the best location but prices are usually more than fair. I got the exact same work for an aging vehicle for $1100 there. Pretty much every other place had quoted me over double that price.

K&M on Siegen would be my choice if not doing it myself.

AGCO is good but expensive.

Average quote I got was around $350 per axel here in Little rock for my truck and said no thanks.

I changed out both sets with top of the line break pads in under an hour.

would recommend you do it yourself if you have any sense of mechanical ability.

YouTube and a hour. It would take you longer to drive to the place then to do it yourself. If you have an open end wrench set and a pair of channel locks, takes more time to remove the tire then to change the pad. But after seeing your post on the H/F Board, you would probably have a hard time removing the lug nuts.

I just had my replaced at the recommendation of the mechanic...they didn't squeek before the replacement, and now they squeek. Is this normal?

Cheap pad or need your rotor resurfaced or replaced.

I keep telling people, you have got to have a friend that is a mechanic. Even if you can do a lot of stuff in your driveway, there will be a time when you can't, for one reason or another. That's when you need you friend. If you have to take to his shop, at least you know he isn't ripping you off. If you don't have to go to the shop, like in this case, I'll bet he'd do it on a Saturday for way less, paid cash.

I'd love to know the make and model. For $500/axle, I could upgrade to some HP brakes. Of course, I'm doing it in my front yard and I gotta factor in the beer cost.
