Get the Spanish one so you can learn to curse out any South of the border drivers hugging the fast lane.

I work with a girl that has commuted back and forth from downtown Baton Rouge to Bogalusa for the last 7 years. She has no life.

I did the opposite commute for about 2 years, but only 4 days a week. Your brain turns off basically after a while, but you lose a lot of your day to traveling. I wouldn't do it 5 days a week now that I have a child, unless the money was just absurd.

4pm in New Orleans is brutal, find a new job.

I did it over 2 years recently. Wasn't bad at all. If you leave at 6:30am it takes a little over an hour most of the time.

I did uptown nola to NBR for about 2 months. Never again. You will hate your life, seriously.

It’s gonna take at least 90 minutes- to get from br to say the garden District. It’s gets bad when you get a little past Kenner

Your quality of life will immediately take a nose dive. You'll eventually get used to the commute and may even learn to tolerate it, but there's no getting around the fact that your quality of life will be greatly diminished.

Take it from someone who used to have a similar commute.

No matter how much we justify long driving commutes there are definitely negative impacts, and especially health impacts. I know many people don't have a choice where they live and work, and many others choose long commutes in order to have access to a bigger house and yard, better schools, or a rural lifestyle, but it would be great if more people could live closer to work and we had better highways and transit access to our job centers.

I had an uncle who did this for years, there are groups who do ride sharing.

They have a van and you help pay for gas, maintenance etc etc etc

6-8 people all ride back and forth together and the non drivers can play on the internet or read

I commuted from Siegen/Perkins to mid city NOLA for about three months before I just moved, it wasn’t worth it. You will be late for work once a week at minimum

It strangely does. We visit the wife's family in Metairie and traffic always seems to be moving so well until you pass the Williams exit, we usually exit but sometimes I feel like it moves well enough to go to Clearview, and just over the overpass traffic all of the sudden.

You can budget yourself 1:45 each way, but 2hrs to be safe. Imagine having to wake up at 5 every day, and not getting home until 6

Nothing strange about it. You have vehicles merging on from Williams on the right, then on the left, followed by vehicles merging on from the airport on the right, then merging on from Power on the right. All of that with less than a mile.

Made the drive from River Ridge to BR for a little over a year when I worked 7-4 at LSU. Hour commute in the morning, 90 minutes at night. Any holiday the commute at night would be an extra 30-60 minutes. I was miserable doing it and it was the sole reason I switched jobs. You will have little free time during the week because you will waste a good chunk in the car.

Right before the Veterans exit by the Best Buy is terrible at all times it seems like. Then magically clears up once you pass it.

Also that curve right after the Laplace exit seems to slow down all the time.

I couldn’t do that drive every day. MAYBE if I lived around the Highland exit and worked in Kenner.
