It’s really not that bad, I wouldn’t go by the river past midnight though. Stay around third street and you will be good

If you must go to downtown BR I suggest staying on 3rd street
You may not get mugged but you will get hassled for money for the shelter, a cigarette or a few dollars to buy a bus ticket

BR doesn’t have a lot going on, not that I am into going out
What are you doing for the date?
Tsunami is nice & you can sit outside & talk
Look into Perkins Rowe, not sure what restaurants are there but I’d feel a lot safer walking around there than by the river
Plus parking will be much easier

I've done this with a date a couple times about 4 years ago and it was fine. There will be a few undesirables but just keep your space, mind your own business, and dont look like a pussy. No one ever bothered us

What night of the week?
What are you looking for, a bar scene, somewhere with a view, a club?
Tsunami has a good view and okay bar if you are downtown already.
The Renaissance has a nice hotel bar if you are in the Blubonnet area.
Top Golf?
Beer Garden on Government is a nice and chill place.
Really all depends on where you are and what night you are looking at.
