I'll go ahead and file this under "shite that will never happen" right next to the NOLA Riverfront Expressway.
Duh. But.... It makes sense. The only part of that may happen(was supposed to a few years ago) is connecting Kenilworth to the back of that area with an underpass under the tracks.
But that didn't even happen.

Also absolutely no freaking way this will only cost 260mil.
They've been working on the extending the high speed rail of the Northeast corridor from D.C to Richmond VA for a long time here, they are getting the plans finalized slowly.
But anyway there are parts of this dc2rva line that are only 10mile segments through a small City that need to be reworked and that's estimated at 300-500million for that alone. The intracity rebuilds through rva and Nova are estimated near 1.5billion EACH.
Point is, no way that they are able not only revamp and bring to code for high speed of the existing rail going through swampland and the spillway as well as what will be required for the intacity components of Nola and BR for only 260million.
260million might be the cost alone for the amount of environmental studies this project will have.

Sure, it would make a lot of sense to take Kenilworth through to Hennessy at the very least, but then you'd be cutting off the back yards of some of the richest people in town.
Good luck.
Good luck.

You don't know EVERYTHING smarty pants faqbutt. Karen Depp owns those lil strips behind her and neighbor Mohammed's house. She's an ole widow.
They'd be able to at least put two lanes through there by dealing with Cobalt, OLOL, Windrush Plantation(that rural life area), and Karen Depp.
Grigsby could bitch but he ain't gotta give up nothin.

I always thought building a flyover over I-10 connecting Kennilworth, and Hennesey to Corporate Blvd and onto Jefferson Highway was the ticket.
BR needs more flyovers and not more interstate on and off ramps where traffic bottlenecks as cars compete to get across the interstate with traffic entering and exiting the interstate.
I think a Perkins Road flyover reconnecting old Perkins to Perkins is good as is building a flyover where Harrells Ferry North and South would reconnect as it once was.

I've also said before On ole Doc Satterlee's Facebook page(he's an AP councilman) that I-10 to 61 at 73 should be continuous aka flyover at both interchanges.
US61 in NATCHEZ 100 miles north of BR has one connecting bus 61 with 61 with 1/4 of the traffic we see in pville there. Mind Bogglin.
Built less that 8 yrs ago. Continuous Interchange on US 61 in Natchez

Completely. I am in awe when I use that thing. Same feeling I have crossing bridge at St. Francisville. Then I get on the interstate at Perkins and I-10 a few days later.

That’s the plan according the the Health District Map. Basically connecting Kenilworth to O’Donnovan
Makes sense... and buying out those condos is probably easier than the properties behind them.

Seems to me this line will lose effectiveness if it doesn't run continuously with trains going in both directions. If it only runs a couple of times per day, travel from MSY to downtown NOLA or BR would be a nightmare depending on when your flight was.
I think you should get rid of the Laplace stop so that the continuous train has more interrupted time to reach peak speed between Kenner and Gonzales while also having accessory trains that service the suburb to downtown areas on both ends.

What would be best (IMO) is if they could run express trains every other run that skipped Gonzales and LaPlace altogether.
And commuter trains every other run that hit those two spots plus add in Prairieville, Lutcher, and Destrehan.

I know, I just don't think that's a good long-term plan.
I realize that they aren't going to commit to going all-in from the start though.
A lot of areas that have rail service, whether it's trains or subways, mix in some express trains that skip most of all of the commuter stations.
