'The area immediately in front of the stage is not safe for wheelchair users as it can become densely crowded and the audience frequently surges forward. 'Our security staff became very concerned for the safety of a wheelchair user at the very front of the crowd, directly behind the barrier and asked her to move to the viewing platform for her own safety. 'They spent around two hours trying to explain the risks to the wheelchair user and offered her various alternatives but she refused to move, putting herself and others at risk and leaving us no option but to remove her from the area.'

This... She claims she was treated like a second class citizen... If any non-disabled person was where they shouldn't be the bouncers would've done the same thing and the police may have been involved. She wants to be treated like a normal person until it is time to do normal person shite.
what i understand is she was sitting in the standing area.
BTW: I love these threads

Sounds like a free-loader who got busted being where she shouldn't have been. Follow the rules in the future.

Sounds like MTV didn't want the legal liability of having a wheelchair in the crowd.

if only she would have complied...

From the website,
My only assumption is that the "first come, first serve" means that you needed to swap tickets for ADA tickets like most sporting and concert venues. Could security have been more accommodating, yes, but it seems she chose not to.

ACCESSIBLE VIEWING AREA (AVA) A designated AVA will be provided on a first come, first served basis for wheelchair user and their companion (unfortunately we cannot accommodate more than one member of a family) only at an accessible location within the arena. This will provide a raised viewing platform and clear views of the stage

is that an official diagnosis? she's in a wheelchair because her joints hurt?
If I had extreme joint pain I wouldn't be out at a rock concert.

That says first come first serve but the article said she was turned away from an empty AVA because she didn't pre-book.

These "protected classes" of people always shout from the rooftops that they just want to be treated like everyone else then when they are, they get pissed and preachy about how they need special treatment.

I'm just saying if push came to shove I wouldn't grab a couple of bouncers and physically lift her wheelchair to haul her arse out. It seems mean.
Because handicapped people need to be treated like children?

Pre-booking could mean just swapping out, which is done first come first serve. Box offices are normally in control of all ADA seating. In the Dome, you can't just go up to the wheelchair accessible seats and say you want to sit there.

It's possible she went to the AVA section and got turned away (no one there but she didn't pre-book) she leaves there and makes her way down to the standing GA area where the bouncers tell her she can't be there either.

It's more than possible. The concert's management could have seen this as a liability for her to be down in the GA pit.

this is what happened IMO. but they spent 2 hours trying to get her back to the AVA section and she wasn't having it. so she got da boot

As someone that runs an events venue, this is pretty atrocious behavior. We have a stipulation on our contract stating to the client that we must know in advance if there will be anyone with a disability in attendance to their knowledge. We always have a bunch open just in case, because very rarely do people know how many handicapped people will show up.
Whenever we have handicapped people show up that were unaccounted for, we adapt to accommodate them. It takes very little time to do this. They already paid for a ticket, let them see the show. This was the venue being a bunch of douche bags.
That's said, Ive got no problem kicking people out if they are a giant shitbag, which it seems like she was being. Customer service in the entertainment business is the most dreadful shite we deal with, and I've fallen off of catwalks 60ft in the air. People are generally shitfricks.
