The question is how they are doing now. And without looking I can assure you that their result is drastically better than us and the rest of Europe.

Sweden?

They're middle of the pack in Europe, doing worse than most countries in the same population range as them.

I'm not sure why people prop up Sweden in either direction. They haven't done it better than everyone else based on deaths per 1M, and they haven't done it worse than everyone else by not locking down. They've just been in the middle, not good/not bad. Now you can certainly argue not locking down and remaining middle ground is the way to go to save your economy, I'd agree. But they haven't outperformed all these other countries like many seem to insinuate.

Of the 15 countries with at least 10mil population, they have the 5th highest deaths per 1million

How are they doing on deaths per day since you have all the figures handy? The question was deaths.
Hasn't changed since August, with 2 or 3 day.

Will obviously have a big spike in the coming weeks.

The case spike just started, it's disingenuous to only look at death count right now to try and show the spike hasn't bothered them.

The conversation was based around spikes right now. I get that was your direct question, but again, the death counts are not relevant to the topic at hand, the current spikes.

Dude, Sweden had zero Covid deaths on 10/29. One on 10/28. One on 10/27. In the whole freaking country. Are you really trying to tell us they are in the "middle of the pack" in Europe? I was asking how they are doing now.

I'm sure a death spike will follow but much like other countries, not nearly as many deaths as we were seeing a few months ago.

This is something that needs to be looked at more.

We use the total amount of deaths to push how deadly this virus is.

Looking at the virus with the recent number wouldn't have garnered such a response.

In terms of deaths per million, yes, they are middle of the pack.

I don't know if you just want to argue against facts, but have at it. Deaths per million, they are not a Europe leader. They just aren't.

You mean they limit the number of people who catch and who die from coronavirus until there is a safe vaccine?

When it comes to cases they have very recently seen a spike.

I'm not sure you want to ignore that a case spike is a leading indicator.

Yea, has the treatment for COVID really changed that much? That's an honest question, I have no idea.

But just looking at the US, our case rate has been higher than our original spike, but deaths half as much. WHy is that?

Our testing is much higher as well, we are finding more cases that were likely there on the 1st wave, but never detected.

Yeah. Sweden has 10M people. They have had 5900 deaths so thats what? Like 1 in every.. over 1600 people?

US has 300M with 229k deaths which is about 1 and 1400 people?

Not sure what these numbers prove, but its just information to help support the correct arguments.

How is Sweden doing in terms of average Covid deaths per day? Asking for a friend.

Sweden is implementing local lockdowns

As of Oct. 18, Sweden’s per-capita death rate—58.6 per 100,000 people—was among the highest in the world. And from early September to early October, average daily cases nationwide rose by 173%, with particularly dramatic increases in cities such as Stockholm and Uppsala.

They have stopped using ventilators nearly as much. In NY and NJ in particular they were putting thousands of people on them in March-May.

The case numbers we have here now are just as bad as they were in the spring but the death toll is 1/10 of what it was back then.

1 or 2/day deaths.

They usually dump deaths on a single day or two in a week.

Not sure if they upped testing or not.

Most of their deaths were in LTC facilities. Their chief epidemiologist admitted they fricked up on that end.

Too bad the rest of Europe didn't follow their lead.
