Married 19, divorced 3, married 19 more.
And you?

yougner generations of men watched Fight Club and realized that getting divorced would lead to their kid becoming a school shooter so the younger generations are grin and bearing marriage

And youve yet to refute one because youre a bluffing pussy. Youre more than welcome to prove me wrong, and you cannot.
Youre just an anal retentive hall monitor who lost his whistle.

Bingo, why get married when your rich Uncle Sam will support you and your children?
I had an urban coworker break it down to me one day.
Marriage is just a way for the government to track and tax you.
If you love her, just stay together and never get married.
Never ever ever list a father on the birth certificate.
If listed as "Single mom" with very low reported income and a couple of kids, the family gets $$$$$
Baby daddy lives with single mom, has the better paying job and brings home the money.
Welfare supplements the income in order to pay a car note, etc.
LA Purchase card pays for essentials at the grocery store.
Baby daddy money pays for everything else - beer, etc.
If they ever get married, then the income is combined and they'll be above the income threshold to receive govt assistance.
Gotta beat the system

His stats are deceptive. Divorce has declined because marriage has declined too. No divorce possible if you never tie the knot in the first place.
It’s a rate of divorce, not an absolute value of divorce.

i had similar conversation with a very hard working co-worker
he had a kid with serious disablities so getting married meant some money from the government might dry up
he also cheated on his baby mama all the time so that might have something to do with it too
dude would go to war for his son and i have tried to hire him elsewhere several times

What you describe is fraud. If the father lives there he is considered part of the household for eligibility requirements.

Married my wife* (also a 1961 birth year) in 1984 and going strong.
The survey shows that if you were married in the 80's you have a 50% chance of divorce. So that means half of the people in the timeframe will stay married, you're part of that half

This is fraud

And frankly why we should end a ton of the social support we provide. It’s been proven time and again through data that children, on average, have better outcomes when their parents are married than single or cohabitating. We should be doing everything to incentivize marriage and stable relationships.

This doesn't change the fact that if you get married today, you have a much lower than 50% chance of divorce.
Higher education is another factor that decreases the probability of divorce.

People just get married less now. It's good in a way but it's really bad for birthrates.
If a woman wasn't married by age 30 she was called a spinster 50 years ago. Once a woman was labeled a spinster it was tough to get married at all. I learned this from my grandma (no pics).
