As a kid in the 70s, it was the beginning og becoming a dump. You knew you were in Bogalusa with the smell of the paper mill. Some sections were ok but for the cultcha.

Agreed.

Merely having I-49 proximate puts Ellick way ahead.

Rapides Regional Medical Center is like the Mayo Clinic compared to Our Lady of the Angels (the former Bogalusa Medical Center).

Bogalusa is a post-apocalyptic wasteland.

Downtown is actually neat and looks like it could be great if they were to actually build it up and put some on both sides of the river

Usual suspects being blindly loyal. And that is why they will never succeed.

It was shitty 45 years ago when we went all the way over there to play a football game on that smoky arse field.

When I was at Southeastern back in the 80's, people from there use to describe it as God's country, I use to tell them, Hammond must seem like Eutopia to you.

I’m over 50 and lived in Tangi Parish for 30 years, not once did I ever hear someone say Gods country. It’s always been a crap town with a gradual downfall. The two biggest “drug “ towns in the region were Amite and Bogalusa, so I was told. Amite did clean up since the old times (80s).

They tried to revive downtown Ellick in the late 80's/early 90's.

Don't think it worked.

My dad was born and raised there, played MLB for the Lumberjacks in the 60's. Only time he goes back is to visit family in the graveyard. I feel bad for him because the neighborhood where he grew up and everything from his childhood is completely ghetto now to the point he doesn't want to stay too long or drive around town telling us stories.

It’s some young college grad that decided to go home and turn things around. He was 23? When elected.

instead he got involved in all this shite.

This is one of those you can take someone out of the ghetto but you can’t take the ghetto out of them.
