I was passing through St Amant today and stopped at the Pit Stop gas station. Talked to the clerk and she said that the woman had mental problems, she had just gotten out of the hospital last week.
She stopped taking her medicine and left her house and never came back. Clerk said she jumped off of the Black Bayou bridge and floated to the one on hwy 431 where some fisherman found her.
She was the oldest sister of 12. They are waiting on the autopsy but are leaning towards suicide.

Damn she would have floated right by the house. IMO. There’s no way She floated that far without somebody seeing the body. Especially with the little amount of rainfall, that bayou is barely flowing

Yeah I noticed that too, hardly no current at all. Just real weird like TDsgumbo said. The bayou is small and shallow you would have to drown yourself on purpose.

ETA: If you know how to swim that is. Maybe she didn't know how to swim, but that's a rare thing around South Louisiana. The sad thing about mental illness is maybe she had voices in her head telling her to do it.

Maybe she was under water and popped up by the bridge.

That’s a pretty good distance. You would get hung up somewhere without a strong current

Depends which bridge she jumped off of. There are plenty bridges over Black Bayou in that area. The shortest distance would be from the one on Church Point Rd to where she was found, which is only about a 10th of a mile or slightly longer probably. But like others have said, there's only a very slight to no current at all right now. And it's quite shallow.

St. Amant

Can I get some clarification here? How are you supposed to pronounce this?

Is it SAINT AH MONT?
Or San a Maw?

I’ve heard both, from equally dumb people

I'm closer to the Lake Martin area. Married a LLOAP from Sannamaw and have made it my home. Good people here. It has its fair share of trash that never ceases to amaze me but we also have a great deal of good people.

Glad to raise my kids here.
