Body and Paint shop guys...problem with Insurance...

Moderate damage to left rear quarter panel only. Body shop takes off both left doors, front quarter panel and front bumper to fix it but only paint rear quarter. Saying they have to blend the paint to a "natural break".. Insurance only wants to pay for repainting left rear quarter panel and not tear down of car through front bumper.
Why would they have to take the front quarter panel and front bumper off just to paint rear quarter panel?

Did you get an estimate from the Body Shop before they did the work?
Was that included in the estimate?
If you did get an estimate, did you send it to your insurance carrier before the shop commenced work?
So many questions...

All of this.
If the body shop did more than what was authorized, tell them "tough shite" and drive away. If you didn't get an estimate and just told them to fix it no matter the cost, then you are quite dumb.

If this is happening to you, you probably brought your car to Owens.

Sounds like you either didn't let your insurance company look have an adjuster do their estimate before bringing the car to the body shop...or the body shop went beyond the scope of work included in the adjuster's estimate and didn't get an approval from insurance company on supplement to initial estimate before they did the work.
If you didn't contact your insurance to send out an adjuster before you brought the car into the body shop, its your fault. If insurance did their estimate and body shop went beyond scope of that estimate without approval, then its on the body shop

I hope you read what the shop made you sign before starting the work.
Blending the rear door when the quarter is painted is customary when the quarter is replaced or repaired. Even removing the rear door to access the jamb where it meets the fender wouldn’t be unheard of, depending where the damages are.
Removing the front door and the fender shouldn’t be necessary with the info you gave us.

this, everything else is the shop running up the bill. I work on the insurance side... they wont pay for it and the shop will agree to eat it. chances are they didnt do all that to begin with.
- for future reference, the rear has quarter panels, the front panels are called fenders my man. fenders in front qps in back.
