Why are 80% of the boats “request a price* I mean list it and put what you want for the MF on the ad. I know if I’m interested or not, im not calling to “request a price”.

Yea I hate it too. I mean I know I can’t afford that 65 Estrella, but I’d like to know by how much.

Price on request

Because they want to know who’s inquiring.

They are ashamed of how much they are asking for it.

I shied away from this boat because it’s a little too large for fishing redfish, specs, and bass in Louisiana marshes. The trolling motor wouldn’t fit either.

Don't know what you're looking for, but the classified on thehulltruth.com is a better place than most to start.

What you lookin for?

These threads are usually on the Outdoor Board.

Because manufacturers put MSRP on boats in order to protect their dealers.

They can give you their actual price in a requested quote.

I always just translate that to “more than I want to pay for this particular boat” and move on to looking at other boats.

They are doing what car salespeople do. When can you come in to the dealership to look at it?! I say, never until you give me a price for starters. They always want you in the door.

Because boats have more bolt on options that can be added during the sale than a car does as it sits at a dealership. Trolling motors, power poles, electronics, audio, trailer/no trailer elections can easily vary the list price by thousands and thousands .
