I like Camrys - she’s been in my 2006 for 3 years. Until they prove they can drive, that’s what my kids got.

Buy a Camry? They say Camrys last forever. They are boring and not any safer than anything BMW makes.

I don't need one either but it's none of your business. The 230i has less than 300 and looks cooler than the other side of the pillow.

Hasn’t been true since the 1990s.

What BMW considers maintenance items (like rod bearings or cam phasers) would be considered a catastrophic breakdown in a Chevrolet, Ford, Toyota, or Honda.

BMW is the new Jaguar.

If the OP wants to treat their kid to a luxury vehicle - get her an Acura or Lexus.

Thanks for replies - I won’t be buying it. Most of you have been very helpful and some have been dicks - not suprised. I don’t have any experience with BMW as a brand. Never owned one. Figured some people on here have and could give me some guidance.

Boy aren’t you a ray of sunshine - have a nice day bud. I simply asked a question and will not be purchasing one based on answers. I have never owned one and will not be owning one. She can pick something else out. Geez.

I think what you meant to say is “thank you”

Honest post... I have owned several M-cars. They are great cars as long as you are within the factory warranty window. At 75K+ miles things get expensive very quickly.

I've owned three since 2018. Two 4.4s, and one six.

2018, 2023, and Mrs. Vette's new 2025.

No engine issues at all.

Mu understanding of the bearing issue was in the earlier 2000s cars, generally oil starvation due to very tight tolerances and infrequent oil changes.

My child wants a puppy.
Oh I will get him a pit bull

My child wants a pellet gun.
Oh I will get him a .44 magnum

Some people just don’t get it ……

Bet I can think of 15 or more teenagers killed on the northshore over the past 35 years because Daddy bought him a Mustang or a Raptor or any other high performance car or truck

Been a BMW thing for a long time it seems.

I had an E46 and replaced the entire cooling system at 75K. Was told that was normal. Never had another.

Hell, heard of people carrying spare expansion tanks in the trunk as they were so failure prone.

A very nice, very expensive headache especially for a kid. You buy it, you asked for it.
