Security and cloud pays big money right now. Development can as well.
You probably aren't going to make 120k+ like OP in BR but you should be worth 80-100k in this market with 17 years of experience. The problem is that there just aren't that many of those jobs available at any given time.

There are also a ton of remote jobs available in our field right now and there's zero reason for a DBA to ever need to be physically in the office these days, unless you just hate working from home.
