For the most part, I always thought 120/80 -- which is considered "normal" is the standard for all adults.

Turns out, it's not.

Thought this might be useful to some who try to watch this as much as possible, without it becoming overwhelming and consuming your life.

I'm 48, just checked mine.

124/82 and 78 pulse

Mines high as shite. But that runs in the family.

Meds will likely be needed soon.

I have a home cuff machine and a watch that matches it very closely.

I just checked it on the watch for the 119/74 result.

I had the most stable BP of anybody; right at normal until
early 2022. went from normal to 150/95 in about 3 months.
been on low dose BP meds that get it down to 110/70-ish.
age:upper 50's
weird.

but even weirder:
wife is 54 and has incredibly low BP. people have trouble even taking it, it's so low.(high for her is 90/60)
but her father had really high BP.

I got to the point of stressing over mine. They would take it at work for stupid health insurance BS. I had to run downstairs, sit in a room like cattle and get a screening. It was always a bit high. Then, it would always be high because I started stressing over it each time.

Anyway, I went to my doc and it was high at first reading. I relaxed and re-took it. It was 132/80. He had me get a cuff and I checked it ~40 times over the course of 3 months and documented it. Always low in the mornings. Sometimes a little high after a day of work. I was a bit stressed that he'd want to put me on meds, but looked at the spreadsheet and proclaimed "These are great!"

They re-did the blood pressure tables in 2017.

They now want to medicate everyone who is not 120/80 which is more than 50% of the adult population.

The thought is better health as we age, but the devil's advocate says more $ for big pharma.

--
To be exact, the old guidelines stated that high blood pressure was anything above 140/90. With the new guidelines, high blood pressure is defined as anything above 130/80.

As it should..

Lowest upon first waking up, increasing throughout the day, lowering again into bed-time.

Mine, when I first wake up, will be in the 105/65 range.
