Exactly. If only black people bought and listened to black music, rappers would be driving Ford Explorers.

cultural appropriation is literally one of the most mind-numbing concepts i can imagine
a dominant culture enjoys an aspect of a marginalized culture so much that they celebrate it? isn't that the point of multiculturalism? the alternative is that we create segregation where the dominant culture assigns culture by marginalized groups and we do everything we can to ensure everyone stays separate and there is no overlap. that will do great things for cultural progress

We need a side view but if she really has a nice arse like that then odds are she had injections. It's all the rage now with white women due to Kim kardashian.

And I've said it before that YOU CAN'T STOP IT. Cultural assimilation occurs ALL THE TIME, even when you don't want it to.

People are too sensitive but look at it this way. There's a long history in this country of white people appropriating things from us and taking it to the larger white population. Entertainment, music, dance, fashion, hairstyles, on and on. Often that appropriation meant white people making money off of it.

it really is one of those things that is just mind-numbing
you have to really pull back the mindsets and overall cultural frameworks to try to comprehend it
i guess the best way to display the absurdity would be to have a true believer in CA being bad explain their ideal world view

Thanks. Very nice. I can see a white girl having that arse. That's about as good as they can get without help. Still that's atypical and may have involved some help.

well yeah that's how multicultural societies work. groups take from each other and mix and match and combine parts to make new hybrid concepts

is the problem that "white people make money off it" or that the marginalized didn't make that money?

I'll never forget the day in HS where some white dude took some foil and covered his teeth with it as if he had a grill.

that arse is attainable by basically all women if they do the right lower body workouts
she's obviously thicker, b/c she had a baby last year and isn't in "movie shape"

They are called contributions, good or bad, to society. And, black people have made money of of it, too. That's kind of the point.
You want black people to advance in American society? Cultural assimilation can help with that.

It's more than that. Pat Boone made more money off of Little Richards songs than Little Richard because pop (white) radio stations wouldn't play black artists.

Sounds like black American needs to appropriate whitey's business acumen.

see i think this is the issue
if the marginalized groups (i'm going to use MGs) say, "we need to assimilate into the dominant culture" then that's a major philosophical point. they either have to say they want to adopt the culture they claim is oppressive and has negatively affected their group (making it marginalized), or they have to admit the value of the culture that made them marginalized (which flies in the face of the movement at its core)
the value of those who want a movement exists when they force their own segregation, so cultural appropriation fits perfectly. they promote MGs that aren't built to succeed in this system, which means what? they have to take down the system itself and remake it in the image of their MG image. now THAT is a movement
even the "making money off of it" is a part of this. it's not that people make money off of it (although on the surface those are the complaints). it's that the MGs didn't make the same money off of it (thus, proving the inequalities of "the system" built around the dominant culture).

i don't think anyone is championing the more racist systems of decades ago
this example is a reference of a song by a black guy that was proliferated across all media and has become a cultural icon of all groups. it's a truly beloved song that has stood the test of time, across cultures, which flies in the face of your point completely.
the type of appropriation your'e referencing is a legit complaint
the type that is used today originates with popular culture created by, and attributed to, MGs

And now look at how much has changed. Lots of black artists own their brands, studios, production companies, etc. Of course in the beginning it wasn't always fair, but you had one dominant group taking economic advantage of a smaller group because of their race. Of course they weren't going to level the playing field, which would result in less money. That's just human nature.

after the brilliance that was deadpool (and his subsequent appearances in the costume outside the movie,) i wish Ryan Reynolds a long life of plowing that.
