I know several whites who have failed the PRAXIS test (for teacher certification in LA and many other states now) multiple times. Should we just give them a career’s worth of salary and benefits because they can’t pass the test?

Why are they not getting a piece? You cannot win a battle you don't fight.
First, you claim that Grim didn’t file the lawsuit and isn’t a named plaintiff. However, he’s still receiving over $2M.
Now, you want to blame white people who failed the same test because they didn’t sue.
Are you aware that that’s a complete contradiction?

“The standards are the standards,” he said. “It shouldn’t be based on what would be easy for blacks or whites. To hire people who are not qualified and change the requirements because a certain group didn‘t pass the test is bulls–t.”
The test did not evaluate whether a test taker would be a competent teacher.

You’re of the mind that if you can’t be successful at something, just sue it? I dare say there are plenty of people out there who share that way of thinking.

They dropped being equal and the word equality awhile ago. The new buzzword is equity. They want to make sure they get equal outcomes no matter what.

Now we know how Baltimore can spend so much money on schools and produce functionally illiterate students.
Ps. Amish elementary school is taught by JHS and HS girls. The kids still test among the top in the state of PA.

What about white people who failed the test?
And what changed in 1994 and 2014 exactly to make the exam racist and then not racist again?

Either one of them or one of their ilk is likely in the thread selectively downvoting. It’s really all they can do because I don’t see a valid argument that this settlement is just.

Come on man.
The class action was filed on behalf of African-American and Latino teachers who took the test because the test had an unlawful disparate impact on them.
If white teachers thought the test had an unlawful disparate impact on them, they should have sued. They didn't, and they didn't.

Democrats would bail them out. I bet a republican president and congress would not. Of course, we will never see that again.

I would be ashamed if I got paid because I failed a test.

Can you imagine being a black or Hispanic who passed the test? By being competent (and apparently extra since it was discriminating against them too) and you don’t get shite except for the work you’ve put in?

Keep voting for these fricking Democrats and it will only get worse.

The teacher shortage likely became so acute that they had to dumb the test down significantly to get the needed number of “certified” teachers.

JFC. fricking parasitic whore. One of the reasons we can’t advance as a society. People like you can profit off of stupidity. No wonder you’re a Democrat and think minorities are stupid

Yet, you’re basically defending the validity of this lawsuit? I’d hate to see how frivolous the lawsuits you fight are.

Today, I helped clear a field for elementary school kids to play tackle football. I wholeheartedly apologize for my role in keeping society from advancing. Tomorrow, when I wake up, I will do everything in my power to help us advance as a society.

They didn't know the subject matter, period. Whether a larger amount of Blacks or Hispanics didn't know the subject matter, compared to the number of Whites that didn't, is immaterial. Black, White, or Hispanic, they were either proficient in the subject matter or not. The proficiency of teachers in the subject matter has a direct impact on their ability to teach.
