Yep, reading his book was pretty wild regarding the correlations he put together. Imagine being an LAPD detective assigned to the case later in your career, only to discover once you retire that it was your dad.

Wild is a good way to describe the correlations made. Some of it is almost hard to believe, but his dad was a bizarre individual, like you said. And Short was known to whore herself out to get what she wanted. Even if his dad wasn't the killer, I think it's totally plausible they both ran in similarly scummy circles that connected them to another suspect capable of the crime.

Kinda goes along with all of the Hollywood pervs coming out now, and the pizzagate scandal. And shows how effed the LAPD and that bunch were even then.

Was thinking the same thing. Chicago PD weren't any better back then either. Many people still believe they eventually pinned the Lip Stick Murders on William Heirens to protect somebody, not to mention protect their own asses.

Agreed with all of the above. It's actually shocking that LAPD didn't pin that to anyone just to save face, well that and not worry about outing all of the top brass and elite crowd that danced in those crazy assed circles. Just reading that book will make you sick hearing about what his dad and buddies were into. And like you said, a girl like that who threw her stuff all over the place just to get ahead in Hollywood, well sooner or later she would make someone mad if they didn't get their way. Seems like she danced with the wrong devil.

Almost as shocking as the crime itself IMO. They could've nabbed any irrelevant nobody and gotten away with it at that time. It's 2017 and intrigue still surrounds the whole thing because they didn't.

The Degnan murder was arguably the first big national story post-WWII, but it's notoriety has largely been lost to history because police said a 17 yr old cat burglar did it. Hard evidence be damned, they got their guy. Everyone can sleep better now.

I suppose everyone enjoys a good mystery. No one would remember Jack the Ripper if he was proven to be an illiterate bum from Whitechapel with a nasty temper back in 1888.

The body of aspiring starlet Elizabeth Short was found beside a sidewalk in a vacant lot in a southern Los Angeles suburb and shocked even the most hardened newspaper crime reporters.

She was probably molested and killed by a hollywood pedo

Dillon suggested that Short's body had been cut in half so the killer could see how far his penis penetrated into the woman's body
