I started using Bing last year. Every once in a while I will have to use google to find something Bing doesn’t pick up, but for the most part I don’t use google search for months at a time.

How do you earn points? Is there a connection between bing and Microsoft? Also where would you look to see what said points could be used for?

I use Google but it is politically filtered and top hits are paid for.

Try this:

Type "Hillary Clinton e" and see what comes up in the suggestion list. Do you see email? No you dont. Keep adding one letter at a time until you complete the word email. At no time will you ever see "Hillary Clinton email" in the list even when you complete the word.

Now type some other persons name and "e" attached and that person email will show up every time...

Search engine with an agenda.

I’m sure not a Fox News or Breitbart fan if that’s what you’re implying.
Sorry, per a Google search those are the top results complaining about Google "snubbing" Easter since 2000. And as far as I can tell, they have never done a doodle for Ramadan. There was a Ramadan "tool" that changed the page, but you had to actually search for "ramadan".

They don't do doodles for religious events, it's policy. So where did you get your fake news?

I have never noticed any of my "preferred news outlets" look for a reason to hate google
It's not noticeable when the news reflects our own biases.

No, that's what the "boo hoo google hates easter and christians" shite is.

It won't matter what browser that you use really, unless it is TOR or some variant of it. The data is tracked at the source and this information was provided in the Snowden leaks.

I won't try to sway you one way or another, but if this is a serious issue for you...go read those data dumps. If it isn't that big of a deal, just continue forward and don't stress it.

For privacy, use Duck Duck Go. Uses the same algorithms etc as Google but treats your privacy more serious than Google.

I’m not doubting anything you’ve said because it appears that I’m ignorant about this subject. I thought the Snowden leaks were all political stuff. So what did he leak and how does it relate to Google? Where can I find these data dumps??

You can sift through the info on Wikileaks.

I'll just list two things that were referenced in the leaks.
1. Acidfox (firefox exploitation)
2. Egotistical Giraffe (A TOR exploit)

These two examples should give insight to how vast and sophisticated these programs can be.

It can relate to google in many ways. (Obvious ones are curation of information shown to a user). However, the real answer that you should be seeking is about how your inquiries to servers are completed.

ARPANET would be of great interest to you, as it is the backbone of the internet in the U.S.

I could give a bunch of complicated terms to you that wouldn't really mean anything so I will just try to use a question to get your mind flowing in the right direction.

Is information safe when being routed through POP (Point of Presence) or NAP (Network Access Points)

Sorry if this only raised more questions, it is a lot to grasp.

Judge me then. I have used DDG for years now at this point and it works better for me than Google. Image search is actually better than Google.

I have google bookmarked and only use it for reverse image search.

I do not use Bing, except on my kids devices where they are locked down and monitoring/reporting is on.

The only reason Google is still king is because people are too damn lazy to try something else.
