CIA trained the Afghan Mujahadeen to fight Russia. Bin Laden, as a radical Saudi Wahabist, went to support his fellow Muslims (Afghans) throw the non believers out of the holy lands. Al Quaida (or the "data" base) formed out of the contacts Bin Laden made during this time. Al Quaida did not exist when the Soviets were fighting in Afghanistan.
ETA: Just read the article and looked a the pictures. I feel bad for those who were injured. Many were probably just going about their daily routine, like those killed and injured on 9/11/01.

Exactly. They were literally dancing in the streets after 911. The same cannot be said of Christians following a Waynesboro baptist funeral deal. Comparing the two is comparing apples to giraffes.

I'm a firm believer that not all Muslims are bad but they really need to take a stand. They are poised to be the dominant religion and this can get out of hand real quick. Hell, it has been out of hand for decades now.
