They do. At least at the main "homestead" where they live the majority of the time. I think the producers started out pushing the no electricity bit early on, but they quickly backed off of that.

One of the biggest frauds on the reality shows like that is Eustace on Mountain Men. They portray him as a minimalist farmer and such, but he couldn't be further from that. Hell, one of his neighbors was interviewed a few years back and talked about all the heavy equipment he owns and the land he has with, essentially, a junkyard on it. But, in a couple of the episodes him and his business partner were trying to make a truck that runs off burning wood so they could haul stuff. The fricker had flatbed trucks and trailers a couple miles up the road.

He's been in all sorts of shite with the IRS and zoning and business boards. I don't think many of his neighbors much care for him, either.

She has summer teeth. Summer there, summer half there, and summer not there at all.

Have an upvote. But I think she got a store bought one now.

Awe, I like Sue. Glad she’s still on there.
Alaska Troopers was my favorite Alaska show followed by The Last Alaskans. I’ve seen a few episodes of a Bush Pilot show over the years, but I don’t think it really ever took off. Don’t recall the name of it.

With the Supreme Court just ruling that commercial films don’t have to get a permit or pay a fee inside National Parks, I expect you are going to see more shows over the next couple of years. Especially hunting/fishing shows.

I liked watching the bush people but realized they were mostly fake. Thing that pushed me over to not watching them was the youngest son talking about how he grew up fishing and without fishing they would have all starved. He proceeded to then fish with an open face reel upsidedown.

Don't fault him for that, baw. He spent all of his life catching fish with his hands and mouth just like a bear. That was probably the first reel he'd ever seen!
