And they still suck at predicting what hurricanes will do. In particular they suck at predicting strengthening

This man is worth 1000 satellites

It really is unreal. Just goes to show how small and insignificant mankind really is in the grand scheme of things imo. When the time comes this Earth is going to end us all.

I don't know. The main models nailed it pretty well so far.

What's weird about that picture is Hurricane Erin took that path in 1995. I assume this is an earlier storm with the same name that got reused.

That picture CAN'T be from 1995...right?

They use the same name every 6 years. Names are retired only if it's a catastrophic storm like Betsy/Camille/Katrina.

Was tropical storm Harvey supposed to hit Alabama?

I'm not really sure what exactly you are bitching about.

I disagree. I think they are pretty good at it. I've had two days to get ready for this thing. Much better to live in a hurricane area than a tornado or earthquake.

I'm well aware. I grew up on the MS Coast.

I'm just stating that the old Erin in the OP took the same path as the Erin in 1995 that I remember. I find that interesting.

In the spirit of the thread OP, I would have found it hilarious if it was the same one and old dude said "frick technology, I'm using markers"

That's awesome if so. The paths were so similar when I saw the pic.

That's from 85/86 Erin. It started right at NOLA, then hooked hard East. It sat Offshore of Tampa for a day and reversed direction. Come in between Pass Christian and Slidell From jump Nash called the turn east and the 180 back to the west. Never forget him drawing in that board about the " Baaahmurdah High" kicking in and turning it back toward the west. All the plants in the river parishes had sirens going off in the middle of the night when that MF turned back toward La. It was a big deal bc the approach was considered worse case to push water into Lake Borgne and Lake Pontch. It turned out to not be too bad wind wise (rt at 100) but he definitely called his shot with the direction and turn.
