Not believing in the Noah's Ark story is not "progressive" or "liberal".
It's common sense.
Even devout Christians should admit there are fables in the bible that aren't true stories and serve to teach lessons.
Do you all believe Jonah was swallowed by a whale and lived in it's belly?

Honestly, it's an example of how corrupt religion can make someone when they're allowed to take advantage of people. At $40 a pop admission to see fake dinosaurs on a fake ark, it's a shame that more people haven't called him out when the millions of dollars used to build it and what he'll make off of it early on could've far better served helping the communities that surround it.
My issue with the tax breaks is we're handing out millions in tax breaks when our state retirement fund is in such poor shape along with our budget as a whole, so outside of incentive to bring a major corporation here we shouldn't be handing them out.

And I agree, this wasn't funded by tax payers. It was privately funded on private property.
I would NEVER allow my children to go to it though. But that's just me. To each his own.

I agree it spreads ignorance, but is it really harmful? Is it any more harmful than the church services that teach Noah's Ark as truth?
The people going to this thing are already so delusional it is better to just leave them alone and let them believe what they want. You will never change their mind...

What a fricking loser
If he thinks this is hurting science in any way, he's not using the logic he claims to champion

So what does guys like Bill say, when they find artifacts from the Bible?
Dead Sea Scrolls, etc?
I'm not religious, but we have no fricking clue as to how Humans came to being. We have the bible and Scientist, who will push false shite as facts to get their hands on all of that Research cash.
It's possible we are the truman show for some higher IQ race, and they are trying to prove how a human race can go from peon brain to highly educated, back to pea brain.
who the f knows

To be fair, he was INVITED by the owner to visit and got into an impromptu discussion with him about evolution.
And I agree, if it makes one child disregard science, it has been harmful. But that isn't my business. That is the business of the child's parents.

This is one the dumbest things I've ever read on here.
So if he thinks one ridiculous fable from the bible isn't true, he is saying that everything in the bible isn't true?

We have some solid theories that are almost unanimously accepted by the scientific community.

Well...get off your arse, earn $100 million, then you can spend it as you please.

We call it a whale. It was actually a leviathan.

I don't believe in Noah's Ark, but this looks like a massive overreaction by Bill Nye and the crew of misfits protesting the place.
Engaging in a debate over the veracity of Noah's Ark makes it seem like both sides are credible.
Noah's Ark is a religious story, and the people who built the museum are promoting their religion. There's nothing wrong with that, and there's nothing wrong with evolution, either. But Nye and pals showing up to tell these Ark people that their religion is wrong... is wrong.
I suppose Nye will next visit the Mormons and the Church of Scientology to debunk their religious beliefs/Creation myths as well? No? Hey... the Muslims believe in Noah's Ark, too. Bill? Evolution hippies? Anyone?

So the millions of visitors who are stopping in this community now instead of going somewhere else are not going to help? Guess none of these people will be spending any money in the area other than the $40 to get into the ark.

I believe the dollar amount in tax incentives I saw quoted was about $18 million. How much tax revenue do you think this attraction will attract to the area that would not otherwise be collected?

Absolutely not...
The bible never said that he was swallowed by a whale. It says "huge fish". Whales are mammals, not fish.

Again, Nye was invited by the owner.

Maybe if he's invited by their leaders?

We'll see how long it lasts. I don't look forward to when it stops making money and the state ends up having to deal with it. That'll be a financial albatross in itself.

Nye was an invited guest and his publicity is part of the reason the ark was able to be built
