You are kind of coming off the same way... Minus the "brightest modern day engineer" part

Bill Nye the Fake Science Guy

I wonder if he gets outraged by Harry Potter World? If he thinks both are make believe, then what's the difference? Most of those that believe in strict creationism probably aren't the types to contribute to science, so why does it matter? As an agnostic, I put atheists (which I'm assuming he is) on the same level as Muslims - both hate freedom and would rather have it their way through force.

Well of course, I admit to be a piece of shite at times and an a-hole, but still an educated scientist who understands that far more factual evidence points the direction that says religion is a hoax.
Enjoy your Sunday school though.

Science educator Bill Nye took a tour of a new Noah's Ark attraction in Kentucky that he has called a danger to the nation's science education.
If he believes all it takes to threaten science education is a shitty boat in a shitty park that people will forget about by next week, he needs to go ahead and just retire.

have yet to hear about a Catholic group trying to prevent single people from getting treatment for STDs on their healthcare plan - and presumably that's the result of the same activity.
And you wouldn't, because regardless of their sin (mine included) we wouldn't want to deny them mercy/forgiveness and more prudently, treatment.
The birth control and abortions are viewed as directly taking lives/preventing life. It is not a treatment as it is a culture of preventing life.
That's the main difference. I wouldn't want to deny anyone treatment to get better. That's just not merciful and is against our beliefs.

Not trying to be a dick either but that question is the number one giveaway that someone does not have a fundamental grasp of evolution.
Since you apparently have this fundamental grasp, have you ever contemplated how many beneficial genetic mutations evolution implies? If every living thing from a blade of grass to man started as a single organism and evolved, what is your rough estimate for the number of beneficial mutations from that organism, to man?
How much time do you allow from one beneficial mutation, capable of reproducing, to the next beneficial mutation, due to climate, environment, diet, etc?
Since natural selection, and beneficial mutations must be responsible for the diversity we know of throughout earth's history, it must be happening all the time, and right now. How many beneficial genetic mutations have been documented?

not sure if serious...Harry Potter's world is not being taught as science...kind of an important detail

I understand the abortion argument but the birth control argument kinda befuddles me. Why would it be wrong to avoid the creation of a life? Is it just a sin of sex issue? Because otherwise any two fertile people who are choosing not to have sex when they could would be sinning.

Like another poster stated.
Assuming we are both layman here, but not sure you have that grasp like previously stated.

Giving tax incentives to a start-up business does not equal tax payer funding
In addition to letting them pocket the sales taxes they charge visitors, the state also designated $11 million in road funds for an expanded interchange off Interstate 75. So, obviously there is government involvement.
At least it's not a transferable credit because those bad boys can just run wild and become straight up cash handouts that go well beyond what the tax liabilities are.

Yeah, nobody is claiming Harry Potter is a true story and evidence of greater truths. Harry Potter World is also probably a lot more fun than this $100M fake zoo.
I am offended by the economic waste.

more examples of a basic misunderstanding of evolutionary theory.
there is no endgame in evolution, no ladder to climb in what gene is better...it only matters that the selective pressures on an isolated population in which the gene is found allows that gene to be passed on at a more successful and higher rate. If the gene happens to be beneficial that will indeed be the case until eventually many generation of random successful mutations over a long period of time further isolate the fledgling specie until it only mates with those having the same expression.

I never realized this many people question evolution.
You should sit in on a college introductory biology for majors course. It is astonishing how many people will try and stand up and challenge the professor with their Noah's Ark level stuff.
If there are people and monkeys then how could people come from monkeys?
I believe/don't believe in macroevolution. Prove it to me.
ID is a scientific theory. Why not teach the complete story?
None of this stuff would be an issue if people didn't have religious leaders telling them it challenges their faith.

Anyone that is aggressively evangelical regarding their atheism is no different than the religious people they despise.
