That's because Bill Maher's need to say whatever he wants is his "act". Without it, he's nothing and he's nothing because his intellect alone can't support his views. He struggles to discuss issues from more than one point of view. Christopher Hitchens however was a master at that.

He's grown into it, and takes himself and his half-baked thoughts very seriously.
This isn't a watershed moment, I believe years doing this, and having to actually learn about politics and policy, have changed him. I noticed it, before this Wuhan coup. Not a lot, but he's slowly become less clueless and a bit less aggressive with a tongue in cheek presentation.
This isn't surprising. Age and experience make you a bit more leery of inane antics, which you previously had a proclivity to foment.
He's grown into it, and takes himself and his half-baked thoughts very seriously.

Maher just needs to go ahead and switch his political affiliation to Independent ... he's an old school liberal and unfortunately for him he has white skin, which is the Democrats #1 enemy these days. Modern Democrats absolutely loathe non-gay/trans, white males.

That board is the anti Tigerdroppings. They publicly announce their bans on there and say why they did it. A couple of people were banned for a month for “being dismissive”. They also seek to have a trans poster calling him islamaphobic. I don’t really hold the TD line on those topics (I think a lot of people here can be harsh on those two demographics) but what does that person think would happen if they tried to be openly trans in an Islamic dominated country like Saudi Arabia or Iran? Acceptance?
