Planners are working on bringing a big eco tourism development to the Manchac area.

Plans include a hotel, upscale restaurant, luxury condos and marina.

Nothing says upscale quite like Manchac

I don't have a link. The story is on the front page of Hammond's newspaper.

Considering how many people are leaving BR/Nola it is a smart idea to capitalize on this

That area seems primed for development. Close enough commute to NOLA/airport and far enough out for.....well ya know

Going to be some expensive arse construction to build it above the flood plain.

Anybody else around there better max out their flood insurance because their flooding risk is about to go way up.

If you sneeze on the water in that area it will flood.

The only way I would buy a place out there is if it is elevated on pilings.

That area is going to be so elevated, everything built before 2015 will flood on a sprinkle

I guess I would have to agree.
If they do this at the port or near the port, wow.
Just like after Hurricane Katrina they built subdivisions near Bedico Creek.
It is like do these people know this area will flood after any major rain system.

Sure they do but Theyll be long gone by then. Grease the right politicians, develop, and move on to the next one.

The prospect of much more pleasure boat traffic while I’m trying to fish is very exciting.

Only been a couple times this year, but anecdotal evidence supports your statement.
