So far, BHam is eaten up with the same cold dry NW wind that is keeping the entire SE dry. As someone on another forum noted, were looking at the extremely rare problem of having too much cold on the table.

Orlando on the 1st...depends on when the front gets there. Not sure on the details at this point but it'll probably get chilly. Might be wet and chilly. Might not be a great game to be in the stands for, but it's not like you'll be iced in or anything, it's still fricking Orlando.

In general it looks like the latest GFS shows a touch of warming with daytime highs above freezing and maybe into the 40s. Am I seeing that right?

The models are oscillating a bit on just how cold we get. The idea remains though that this will be the coldest we've seen in a good five years and an unusually prolonged run of abnormal cold here. Temps on the South shore staying in the 30s for two days, lows into the teens in the cards for north of BR.

Luckily every model has backed off a snow solution, which was a concern because we could have had power outages and prolonged icy road conditions. Looks like the flow will remain too much out of the NW and be too cold and dry for icy precip.

So by 9pm NYE should the first push be through most of La?

That's the general thinking. CLa being first obviously and pushing through NOLA by late NYE. It'll be a hell of a front on the temperature change side, so a nice jacket and some hat would be a good idea if you're shooting off freworks. And a nice full flask of bourbon.

Sorry if this has been answered, but how much rain are we looking at in the NOLA area for NYE? Debating on if I should buy a ton of fireworks for the kids or not.

The rain shouldn't be too bad. The dry nature of the air blasting in should keep it under wraps and should be through the area early enough to blow some shite up.

So no worries on bridge closures Tuesday? Driving through the state in the a.m. is still the plan.

Minor concerns because it's going to be very cold overnight Monday into Tuesday. So check along your route. This kind of cold is also very dry, which should let evaporation take care of any moisture that would ice over a bridge.

Im flying from Houston to Ellick NYE. Hope the trickle down effect isn’t too bad as far as delays and even worse cancellations. Hopefully the brunt of the cold moves in overnight.
