Just got anti gel for the tractor fuel tank. Last thing I need is a problem when trying to put out hay next week.

Also from the NWS

Lake Charles NWS discussion:

quote:

The strong cold front will arrive early during New Year`s Eve with cooling ongoing through the day. Enough lift will linger behind the front to keep light rain or drizzle lingering through New Year`s Eve through early New Year`s Day, however while temps are falling below freezing conditions will be drying. There may be a very small window across the lakes and CenLA for ZR or IP, however this will be very short lived. The bigger threat will be the cold that will linger through the week. The coldest stretch of weather this area has seen in a few years will occur next week as teens and 20s will be common each morning. Wind chills of the single digits to the 20s will also occur. A couple of reinforcing fronts will also pass through the area with one likely Tue and one Wed/Thu. Operational models have trended drier with the short wave and front Monday Night/Tuesday, however there may by a slim window for some precip to work into Acadiana.

The afternoon Updated Surface Charts for Monday and Tuesday hint at a wave of low pressure in the NW Gulf with a Coastal trough. Also it is not often we see the Weather Prediction Center indicate a 1056 Artic high over Nebraska New Year's Day. I certainly believe it's going to be much colder than the early December snow event. As far as an precipitation falling through that cold air, that's the $64,000 question.

Does a coconut blow up like a can of coke when it freezes?

Yeah, it's not great for plants.

We're looking for hints of snow here, but one thing everyone is pretty damned certain of is this will be an unsually cold and lengthy week following New Year's.

Exactly right. We may or may not have a snow event. I believe if the set up that would give us precipitation takes shape we would be looking at a significant snowfall event. The biggest question is IF that set up actually sets up. Right now the models are having a very hard time with that aspect.

The one thing that looks to almost be certain is that we are in for a VERY cold New Years week next week. Lows possibly will dip into the low teens but more likely the mid teens and highs will struggle to get out of the 30s, with a day or two possibly not reaching 33 degrees.

I just asked this to my wife to see what she would say. She was adamant that it would not because they are not carbonated. The reason cans explode is because of the carbonation

She’s lucky she is pretty with a great rack ( no picks)

I'm thinking that's wind chill not actual temp.

the 00z GFS is keeping the moisture there... just not long enough for the cold air to make it snow
