That flight is the least of your concerns in Alexandria.

Dear old Ellick has its problems, but it's one of the least trashy cities in Louisiana.

Yeah, his life isn't at risk there, simply his long term happiness.

It shows a 50% chance on precip that night in BR but I don't buy that. If it ever gets that cold this far south the air has to be bone dry and no moisture in it so there isn't any precip.

The super cold comes in dry.

The models with precip have shown cold rain with a possible brief changeover to snow, but that scenario never materializes.

Will the bars still be open? My son and I will be in NOLA for New Years. As long as we can drink and eat good food we'll be good. Cold weather clothing is not a problem.

Yeah, the bars aren't closing on New Year's for some cold weather. I'd be a little weary of driving the bridges if it does get very cold, but it's not like you're going to be taking off for St. James parish or the Northshore anyway.

With all the tourists in town for New Years and the Sugar Bowl, it'll take a lot more than cold weather to get bars and restaurants to close.

Possible that some bridges/overpasses may get closed though if there's ice on them. Most people here have never driven on icy roads...and they already suck at driving in normal conditions.
