I will believe a 9-spot in Baton Rouge and a 7-spot in Lafayette when my nuts are frozen to a flagpole at Parkview Baptist or Acadiana High's football field

I like how there's snow even 100 miles out into the Gulf.

That makes me happy, but I’m stuck at work until I fly home early Friday. I’m glad it’s falling but I won’t be able to enjoy it.

We need a couple of storms to drop 10 inches a piece in rapid succession

Is this your X-rated adaptation of the kid in Christmas Story getting his tongue stuck to the flagpole?

Doesn't look to be in the cards. Three little shots coming this week for the central Colorado Rockies at least. It'll be enough by this time next week to have the vast majority of runs open at A-basin, Breck, Vail, and Copper. Aspen will probably need more snow. They've only got a foot on the mountain.

It backed off of those epically cold temps then went back again. The Canadian is even colder. Both models are seeing an absolutely MASSIVE, IMMENSELY POWERFUL arctic blast at some point in the next two weeks for 95% of the country but can’t agree on when.

We’ll have to wait and see how cold it actually gets.

Also, they both still see multiple Deep South ice/snow events. In fact, that’s what’s making them believe in the brutal low temperatures for the gulf coast - snow/ice pack usually equates to an ice box effect, keeping temps low.

Until PeeJ, my unlucky rabbits foot that is always wrong, and my broken unlucky eight all agree no snow or sleet then I believe no snow.

When the models keep pushing back the major cold blasts then you can pretty much throw it out the window. Sure, eventually it may be right. But also, look at the source region. Where is this historic cold going to come from? NW Canada is usually our source and they aren't cold enough for that. Even over in Siberia, should we get cross polar flow, it isn't nearly cold enough for those kinds of High Pressures to dive down.

So the models are saying that at some point this winter, it'll get really cold. Please kill this thread. It's getting pathetic now.

Yea, I agree. They're losing credibility by continuing to push the cold back more and more.
