Could one get frostbite or frost nip from a single digit wind chill, or does it have to be like -15 or colder wind chill to be dangerous to exposed skin? Saw several people outside without hats or ski caps protecting their ears.

If everything is melting right now wouldn’t it make for worse road conditions tomorrow? With the temps struggling to get above 30 today it seems the snow melting on top of the ice would make for thicker ice?

If you're exposed for a good 45 minutes, yes. It would take much colder temps to be a big issue.

The melt is evaporting quickly into the dry air. It's the spots that don't get sun and raised roadways that will struggle to thaw out.

Just wondering since no one is really talking about it, but I guess with a wind chill of 5 or 6 degrees maybe it’s not a big concern. I saw a chart that said it has to be -19 or colder and 30 minutes or more exposure.

Well the woerse news for the BR area is that it was supposed o get up to like 36/37 degrees today which would have helped it melt more but now it looks like we may only get like two hours of like 33 degrees.... That's real bad news for the area...

I'm not sure we'll make it to 32 at this point. We've only got three hours to pick up 6 degrees.

Yep. F that. I’ve decided to skip the barn. One day without riding won’t kill him.

Do y’all know how I can get to Houston from BR? I’m ok with leaving tomorrow or Friday morning but I’m worried that it will keep thawing and refreezing. I’d prefer to get back to Houston as soon as possible safely.

Wait till tomorrow. The roads should be mostly open after a good thaw out tomorrow morning.

Just wasted 45 minutes or so driving to the gym because they're closed. Most surface streets were fine that weren't in the shade. They had a bunch of 18 wheelers parked around I-12.

Yep. And on Sunday when it's 71 degrees, this will all be a distant memory and we will all be asking if this really happened...

the owner told me they were going to open back up at 8 am yesterday

as they should. if I were an employee why wouldn't I want to roll up and watch people sign in to the gym. it's got to be one of the easier part time jobs.
