Nam doesn't seem like it is dealing with the precip back in western LA/TX good this run.
It did not. Way too light out to the west. Either it'll start to fade fast or it missed the energy providing the lift over there.

Been raining up near St. Francisville for awhile now no snow but a lot of stuff is starting to ice over

Finally got some decent snow in Kingwood. I was tired of that damn ice.

Cold dry air moving in fast!
We'll see. I'm having a hard time with that solution given the moisture to the west and the other models hitting on wetter solutions. That being said, a polar cold front like this would typically dry out with the persistent N/NW flow. Really interesting day for the weather nerds.

Yep agree.
Just seems to me that the dry air is winning unfortunately

So what time today in NOLA are my employees going to start demanding to leave early to avoid the iced over roads?
Posted on 1/16/18 at 2:30 pm to tigercraig
Raining pretty steady by 10/Acadian, will not be a fun morning tomorrow if it gets down in the teens/ low 20s tonight
Posted on 1/16/18 at 2:30 pm to tke857
shite... I'm in NOLA but live on north shore. Guess I better leave soon.

Meaning, it will take all precip out or just the potential of snow?

Something will still fall. Pretty good shower now at highland/Perkins. If the dry air wins out the precip will just be lighter and end sooner

Don't have a gif of the NAM yet, but it dries out the precip line pretty quickly. The GFS and HRRR model soundings don't show that though, with even points over toward Lake Charles having a moist column up to 500 mb.
Dry air really starts winning, it'll eat up all the precip. You'd expect to see the line really start to fade west and north of us if that's the way this goes. That's not what I'm expecting but it's a perfectly reasonable solution with a front driving all of this.
