I don't know what creates snow versus sleet, but whatever it is ain't happening in Opelousas. Nothing but sleet all day.

Radar is showing snow but it’s nothing but sleet. If this was snow it would be a shite ton of it. It’s basically like a .5 inch per hour rain storm right now.

Been like that here up till about an hour ago. Im 30 miles or so SE of Alexandria.
Flurries since 9:30 but it’s been steady snow and starting to accumulate since about noon.

somewhere in the air the temp is above freezing
snow melts there... then hits freezing air closer to the surface and refreezes
hence... sleet

it's been snowing since about 9 AM

I truly believe that “the Dr.” Legitimately thinks that communicating to people that they need to bring their pets inside when it’s 16 degrees is more important than getting the forecast correct.
