I think you are correct. I vaguely remember the sales guy saying something about not making a 29er in that model anymore when I purchased mine.

I keep the app running in my jersey pocket. I only look at the data after the ride. Power meter would be helpful as I get into longer rides, although I could learn to just go off of feel. Its really hard to "hold back" at the beginning of a longer ride. I've only been riding for about 4 months, so I'm no expert. Seems like a power meter could be a good way to train and learn how much effort I should be exerting in order to build up to a century ride and beyond.
I've got several loops where I live and I know my general distance to within 2-3 miles. I can get a 50 mile ride in that area, so I'm good for a while. So the only thing a computer would do is show me the time and cadence.

power meters lead to training..training leads to racing..racing leads to...a miserable outing on the bike everytime you get out on it as you're constantly working on increasing your FTP
power meters are a gateway technology.

That's why I can't stand to ride a road bike.

Did you see when competitive cyclist started that $1 for every hour on strava deal...it lasted about 4 days.
I knew all it would take is someone to sit there with their bike on the trainer and turn the crank arm while watching a movie or something before they changed their mind. Looks like it never even got that far.
Anyone Zwifting?

Yeah, I think I still have a $4 credit. shite, even for $20 a month I was never going to pay for a Gu again.

Exactly what I was going to use it for

Haha yea. I got a couple of pair of Swiftwick socks out of that. I signed up as soon as I saw the thread on Slowtwitch.
I'm using Zwift a bit. I did a 3 hour ride a few weeks ago on it. I'm sure I'll use it a lot during the winter.

Does it really make riding on the trainer that much better? I can barely go an hour on the trainer without getting bored out of my mind. Even watching a movie or something. I cant wait to get off the bike. I've got an infant that I only get a couple hours with after work, so rides during the week are out of the question. I try to get on the trainer after he goes to bed 2 or 3 times a week, but its just miserable. If it makes it more interesting, I may see about using it.
