I have a request for our dedicated weather forecasters.

Could y’all if it is not too much trouble add the distance and course relative to the Mouth of the Mississippi River?

That’s the way it was done in the old days and it has stuck with me. I also like it better than looking at these 5 day “ Cones of uncertainty”.

If I know that the storm is 375 miles SSW of the Mouth of the Mississippi and traveling 6mph NNE that’s all I need to know. The math is easily computed and I know where the damn thing is located, how long I have, and if it’s going to hit me.

I’ll study the map when it gets 24 hours away.

That’s the old Nash Roberts way. I sure miss him.

Thanks for y’all dedication and willingness to help us on this board with y’all’s knowledge.

Beta is already producing a large mass of heavy rain along the southeast Louisiana coast and just offshore.

So what part of that projected path matches with it currently showing due N at 8?

It has been moving north and east of projections since yesterday and still is but not by a large amount. It seems that it will go west but may be a bit farther north than those tracks when it does.

I will say this. This is the most unorganized expected hurricane I’ve ever seen. There’s literally zero precipitation anywhere close to the “center.”

Download Google Earth

Type in Coordinates

Unless you have zero knowledge of 3rd grade southern US geography, that’s the way to go.

Here’s your one time example

What is good news for now for LC and SWLA is that the storm will have to regenerate deep convection near the center which will take a while.

There should not be much if any strengthening until that happens and will keep rainfall amounts much less - at least for now.

Living in Lafourche Parish, I’d be willing to take one for the team if this storm would just head straight here and then gtfo East to spare SWLA. Gonna be a long, wet week if it lingers around.

Unfortunately it won’t take real high winds to start ripping off some tarps.
