Take it to CarMax and get their quote. Then take it to the dealer to trade in, wait for the low ball offer, then show them the CarMax quote. They will match it and you can maximize your tax savings.

You shoulda taken that deal.
You have double the miles that the book says a 4 YO vehicle should have.
That was a very generous offer, IMO.
(w/o knowing all the details)

There are lots of older Tahoes for sale but not that many with lower miles. 42,000
Cheaper and with only 30k miles

It was a generous offer. I went in not really needing to get something new, so I said I'm not buying unless I get 20k on the trade. Tahoe was immaculate, all highway miles
Anyway, sales manager came back at 14k originally. I did some back and forth, he got very upset and copped a serious attitude with me (all in front of their GM). I lol'd at this little pissy baby and walked out at about 17k trade.
As I'm driving off, the sales guys comes running out beating on my window saying they'll do $20k. I'm guessing the GM realizes his guy was out of line in the negotiations. I thought long and hard bc it was a good deal and I was trading in on something nice, but I couldn't do business under principle
I just kept the Tahoe and still drive it

My wife just got 29,500 for her 2011 Tahoe LT in trade in towards a 2015 Yukon SLT. It was blue book at approx 24,000. Hers had around 40,000 miles

I would suggest you negotiate the lowest price for the new car first, then bring in the trade and ask them to match. If they won't, tell them you'll be going to the dealer across town.
Email the dealers in the area with the numbers you worked out and see who will get where you need to be.
