A 5070, Nautilus 5711 & 5980 and a Aquanaut 5167 all in the upper left corner the 5167 is on a bracelet on the second row just below the 5070.

I spy a lot of Panerais...amongst other beautiful watches. I like your style.

Edit: 12 Panerai? Damn. You in Louisiana? Beautiful watches.

Actually 13, my guess is you missed the jewel of my Panerai collection the 518 on the second-row second-column.

Not in LA this time of year, we are down there only in the summer.

Thanks

Oh shite, I rarely see 518's so I must have missed it. What a beautiful watch!! Not many people have one (only 50 made as you know). You have an absolutely amazing watch collection. You must keep a jeweler very happy! Awesome stuff.

No one except your son and a watch aficionado would have any clue of the differences between a 150 dollar watch and a 1500 dollar watch. Give him cash

Looking at your collection I take it you aren't much of a Breitling fan.

Prince William's daily wear is still the Omega Seamaster 300, quartz, mid sized that his mother gave him as a teenager.

I traded both Bronzos (loved them but just too big) and a couple of pre-V pieces I had for the 518. I've been a Paneristi since the mid-90s and one of the few humans that think Panerai makes more than two watches...

Breitling has just never interested me and I am not sure exactly why. I will say if I was actively buying these days I would likely have bought the blue Superocean Heritage II in 42mm that introduced at Basel this year.

To the OP, when you come back to the thread post a couple of pictures of the style of watch you are interested in. It is hard to nail down good options without knowing whether you want to get him a dress watch or a dive watch or something else. There are literally hundreds of choices in the price range.

The best gift you can give a son is a really nice watch. It's something that he will always have and hopefully appreciate.

Don't be the New Iberia haircut guy.

Eh. He kinda needs to be a “into nice stuff” kind of guy to really appreciate it. I know a guy who could afford to start his own watch manufacturing company and wouldn’t wear a Patek if it was given to him. Some people just don’t care for them.

Or a nice pen. My uncle gave me a Montblanc fountain pen when I graduated law school and I used it my entire career. I signed every legal document with it in blue ink so I could immediately pick out an original. It is one of my most cherished possessions.

Are you kidding me? A 382 and 507? Ristis' have been climbing over dead bodies for the 671 as of late. Which pre-V pieces did you own? Frankly, I love Panerai...I love the heratige, I love the design and the community. While this is not a watch forum, everybody around here hates on them because they are "too big" and too "simple." I love them because they ARE simple. I would love to have seen your collection before getting rid of the pre-v's and bronzos. Are you a big strap guy?

That's funny, my parents gave me a Montblanc when I graduated law school as well. I use it everyday. In fact, I signed a few documents today with it.

Yep a 382 and 507 and the two Pre Vs were both 201s the most "common" of the Pre Vs. I only had MSRP in the Bronzos so it wasn't too bad for me, I had the 201s from the late 90s so I didn't have much in them either. I could have gotten more by selling them but I really wanted a 518 and honestly thought I might never see one again. I did get a 113 for my wife in the trade as well. In retrospect, it was a poor deal for me in the long run as the 518 has not appreciated and all the other 4 have, but I wanted it and I am happy with it. Most of my Panerai are fairly common except the 518 and 363.

I used to be more of a strap hound but now I rarely change straps and sold most of mine, I have 2 or 3 for each Panerai but tend to just keep my favorite on each. I think the 518 and 243 are the only ones on OEM straps. The rest are on stingray, ostrich leg, hornback croc and the like.
