Baton Rouge obviously don’t count

Hopefully you’re moving for education purposes?
LSU has raised their entrance standards, so yes, Baton Rouge May be “too big for you”

Side note: what’s the best FALSE college town in Louisiana?

Kinda crazy, you would think New Orleans would be, far and away just from its nature.

If Lincoln parish wasn’t so old school on their drinking laws and would let the college kids have a little fun, Tech would have a lot more students hands down

It’s a lot better in that regard. Not perfect, but better. You can even buy on sundays now on the outskirts what is technically grambling but pretty much Ruston.

You haven't been to the Hammond Walmart, have you?

10/10 would highly recommend. You need to go check out the nightlife on the Southside and you’ll never want to leave

Doesn’t I-12 pass through Hammond?

I guess technically I’ve been there if it does

Yeah they’re trying I bet. I always say if the state starts closing schools, LA Tech will gain many students over night because ULM would be on the chopping block. Grambling too.

Honestly the only true college towns in LA are Ruston and Grambling. Thibadeaux and Hammond are the next to qualify. Everything else is a small city with a small college, or a big city with a big college.

Bruh...

Don't ever use that word in that context again unless you're a retard.

I’m not even sure about those, but I have never been to either so I don’t really know how intertwined the town and school are. When I think of places like Norman, for instance, I think of a town whose population practically doubles when class is in session (or at least it did back when I had a buddy there in 79 , yeah I’m old) and the town was all in for OU.

LSU is the fourth largest employer in Baton Rouge behind the state, EBR parish schools, and Turner Industries. One out of every six people in (incorporated) BR are either students or employees at LSU. It’s a college town.

And NOLAs 5th & 6th largest employers is lsu health and tulane, but that doesn't make it a college town.

----

I would define a true college town would be one where the population of the city dramatically reduces or plummets in between semesters/in the summer since the majority of people who live there year round, go to the college.

ex: oxford, blacksburg, penn st/state college

I don't think BR qualifies, because although the city is feverish and fervent about LSU athletics =/= being a college town.

Closest things LA would have would be Ruston, Hammond, Natchitoches, Thibodaux

Ruston would blow away without tech. The school is over half the population of the entire town.

Yes, we have too many damn four year colleges.. but what town is the best?

Aside from just a few states, Louisiana has the fewest 4 year schools. PA has more in one county than La does statewide. NC has more power 5 schools than La has 4 year schools.

I’m going to need you to name them. I have great difficulty believing NC has 15+ P5 schools. That would be nearly 25% of the total # of P5 schools if true (it isn’t).
