Well in preparation for the good Lord to smite this gay Earth (joking-for hurricane season) I want to get some MREs to keep around the house. What are the best sites to get these in the OT's experience?

Be careful, as this is a legal grey area

I would subsist on pop tarts and fruit roll ups before I ate those nasty looking and smelling things

In fact I have, stuck in a military shelter during a hurricane

I buy paracord and other camping stuff from this site, and I've noticed they sell MRE's.

Get on Amazon and stock up on Mountain House meals. Much better tasting and it is what we use on our camping trips.

Don't get MREs, as they're not cost effective. Stockpile your own food reserves. Cheaper & you get to choose what you eat.

Pop Tarts may be decent tasting but they are quite literally one of the most unhealthiest foods on Earth.

So chesty, what's your advice? Not be prepared and show up Government office looking for a handout like 90% of the population?

My brother actually gave me one Sunday. I was on the way back from the beach and got stuck in dead stop traffic on 26. Ate it.

You're best bet is to find your nearest Army Surplus store and go there with cash in your hand. That way you can check the storage conditions and the expiration dates in person.

Not sure if you know this, but Strawberry Pop Tarts are a top hurricane prep item

MREs are a quick fix provided you store them properly and you know which ones to stockpile.

A few cases of MREs are good to have on hand provided you do the other things you're referring-to which I assume is dried beans, rice, etc. It's a whole another discussion but I'm assuming you mean investing in mylar bags and five gallon buckets and putting-up some pastas and other stuff, including proteins, oils, etc.
